I noticed when I used external camera the other day that my IXB is rather decrepid and rusted. Considering it has been on two patrols, and it is towards the end of 1940, my boat is look rather rusted and has pretty much from day one. I am not using any mods apart from Commander, and shortly I will be using GWX.

Did I get the 'ol faithful' rust bucket they kept out the back in the subpens?

Character good. Rust bucket straight off the drydock - not so good.

If you don't fancy the look then you can get a new skin for your boat. Theres a whole topic pinned in the Mods Section.

The look is ok, I guess I was just surprised that it was rusted seeing as most stock SHIII u-boats look pristine the whole campaign and various skin mods give rust look after a few patrols. My supposedly new boat was rusted from the get go.

A screenshot would help. However, if it is the stock version of the IXB then it always was a little 'rusty'. IIRC it should also have a camo stripe.

No rusty boats in GWX and any way you can slap on a skin on your boat.

If I can get it to install...have no end of issues at the moment, looks like i will need to remove the reg entries aswell as an uninstall of SHIII then clean reinstall to get the patches and then gwx in (and then SH3 Commander in aswell)
So OT, but its fresh install, update to 1.4, gwx, gwx update, sh3 commander and put the gwx commander files in before running sh3 commander right?

The Royal Navy provides rust knocking-off services. Find a couple of Tommy DDs and let them have a go at your boat :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Delete any/all SH3 files from C\MyDocuments
Install a clean version of SH3 in C\Program Files\Ubisoft\SH3
Patch it to 1.4b
Copy the folder and paste it to whatever drive you want.
Rename the folder ‘GWX’.
Now install GWX v1.03 and run it.
Create a shortcut to the desktop..
Install the SH3Cmd 2.7 plus the SH3Cfg file
If your going to use multiple installs I’d suggest a separate install of SH3Cmdr for each plus an install of MultiSH3.

My maths aint good enough to count the number of times this questions been asked.....hence the 'rubber stamp' :arrgh!:

@Dan

A much better response....if not as clear as the MOSES one ;)

Edit: Install GWX
Then install Patch 1.03
God only knows why that isn't showing because it's def part of the Word doc

It's the boat you were assigned. To quote Bogart in The Maltese Falcon: "You'll take it and you'll like it!"

To quote someone a little closer to home: "Be more aggressive!"

Do you mean that once GWX is installed you cannot load up different subskins? :o

Do you guys know what the proper chemical phrase is for rust?

Yes I do.:know: Iron Oxide. Fe2O3

Always was very good at chemistry, although Organic Chemistry was my stongest area.

How do you do it? I can't get any skins to load. I'm using Jonesoft's mod installer, but the skin does not change. When I tried to copy the files directly into the 'Texture' folder it was empty :damn:

Destroyers are a piece of cake. ;)

Try a Black Swan they don't call them killers for nothing.

I have 2 of them hunting me currently, my first DC attack using GWX. Very immersive and rather scary!

Those Black Swans hang around long after the standard Destroyer has given up.

Problem solved... I was not extracting them directly, no, which was causing the problems  The labelling folder had doubled-up, so JSGME couldn't read it. I removed the duplicated folder and now it works fine. Thanks for the help
