Game won't start...error at start-up.

I installed SH4 today. When I tried to start the game, I got the following error:

"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_32.dll was not found. Re-installing this application may fix this problem."

Any help would be appreciated.

Uninstall the game delete all files when thats done make sure you have the most up to date video card drivers and directx as well then do a fresh install then install the 1.2 patch hope it helps.

Well, I un-installed the game and re-installed. I tried to start the unpatched version this time (I originally tried starting 1.02), but I got the same error.

I'm not going to change my video card drivers just for this game. Is there any thing else I can try? I was really looking forward to playing SH4.

just make sure all your drivers are fully up to date and run a program called tune up utilites 2006/7 it will let you know if theres any probs i'm sure one of the other guys will have something to throw into the ring to help you. any way keep me posted.:yep:

What has occured is your DirectX install is corrupted - SH4 cant find one of the required DX9 dll files. There is a version on the DVD, or you can download the "latest and greatest" (cough cough) from www.microsoft.com/directx/ (http://www.microsoft.com/directx/) - reinstall and reboot as directed - that should solve the issue.
