D = Set Planes on Dive
A = Order current depth as target depth. "Level Here - Mark" It will take crew and sub time to respond.

In Silent Hunter III, you dived your boat by hitting 'D' (devastating on high time compression:o). If you didn't level out after hitting the Dive key, you'd eventually either hit the bottom or get your boat crushed by pressure. So in essence, 'D' took you all the way down, 'S' took you all the way up. 'A' levels you out.
Try the same with this game. Hit 'D' and then 'A' when the boat starts creaking too ominously.

There are Destroyers in this game?? I thought they were just Merchants with big guns as they never do anything to me :(

Ive noticed with 1.2, ubi put a "saftey" in with the D key. If you look at your 450 foot gauge, you'll notice a red needle around 350 feet. That is where the game will automatically level you out, on a straight dive with the D key. You have to manually set the depth to go below that, and hitting the D key again will return you back to the 350 ft red mark.

Also check your submarine\.cfg file You can edit the max depth. (crush depth depends on strength defined in the .sim and .zon files via SH3 MiniTweaker.)
I had a Tambor down to 850 feet safely anywhere past 860 was Locker time.
* If your sub has taken ANY damage prior, all bets are off as to crush depth and strength. I created a spec sheet to keep track of non-damaged speeds/depths/time to dive, etc.

Ah hah, up until now that variable in the cfg file has been relativly useless. Thanks for the tip.
