Invincible Destroyers?

I have had this issue with patch 1.1 and 1.2 so I know it isnt something new. It has just finally happened enough that I know it cant be right....



When I get a destroyer coming straight at me, like when they come to DC me or if I had happen to be in the right place at the right time.... I fire torpedoes and hit her square in the bow head to head with me and nothing happens... the ship rocks but doesnt sink. Normally I hit a DD in the side and she blows 1 hit, maybe 2 at most.... On multiple occasions I have hit DDs with 3-4 torpedoes right in the bow and they dont sink. It is only really a problem when we are playing chicken and normally I score hits and then still have to go evasive because my 3-4 wasted torps did nothing to her.

Has anyone else experienced this??? apparently DDs bows are made of inpenetrable armor.

I'm not sure. I hit a freighter dead on bow and there was a hole there, but she was still able to make headway. This may just be damage modelling. If this is bothersome, you may want to use one of the torpedo mods here at subsim. Dont forget to d/l the JSGME before. Follow the instructions.
You have to download it, create it in a new file in the main folder, not main.cfg. It took me a while to do this and thanks to some subsim people, but you should put it in the file:
Ubisoft.silenthunter4. your main file. Maybe someone else could clarify this better than me.
So far as the downthe throat shot and damage modelling, maybe someone else could clarify better.

I put a torp directly into the stern of a freighter and destroyed rudder &
screws with moderate hole. It just kept going at 10 kts like nothing had
happened. I had to put another torp into her side and then she blew up
like a firecracker. I don't think the damage model for ships takes into
account the bow or the stern, just sides. This may have to be patched.

Its only a problem with down the throat shots... Anywhere else i've hit them its fine... When we play chicken they always win though :damn:
