Maybe I missed this. But I didn't see anything that said our old saved missions would no longer work with this new 1.2 version. Has this happend to anyone else?

Also, The Replay checkbox won't let me check it when saving. A few days ago I read that you must check it the first time you save or it will be disabled from then on. But I just started a new career since my old saves won't load. The first time I went to save this new career the Replay checkbox was disabled!

I also noticed that now the game 'auto'-saves your missions when you start it. So, maybe this is the cause of the Replay bug? Now the game does the first save on it's own, and does not check that Replay checkbox. So, it is disabled from then on?

Snacko, did you read the readme? It's there for a reason. I quote from 1.2 Readme:

Note 1: The save games and replays that were made with the original version of Silent Hunter 4 or with Silent Hunter 4 patch 1.1. will be incompatible with the new patch version.

AFAIK, the game has always done an auto-save both on entering and on leaving port so I doubt that has anything to do with the "replay bug".

However, thanks for the info about that "bug", I have never been able to check the box, and I did NOT check it on my 1st-ever save. Believe I'll move my save game folder elsewhere, start a new career and see if it will let me actually save a replay...

Snacko, I did a little work on the "replay" issue. It's not enough to simply start a new career. I did the same after installing 1.2 (not due to replay bug, but to restart in Asiatic fleet since the IDL torpedo track bug still ain't fixed) and I still wasn't able to check the "Replay" box.

So just now I deleted my entire SH4 save game folder, ran SH4 and started a new career. Saved as soon as I left port, and was able to check the replay box. Then was able to load and view the replay. The key is deleting entirely the save game folder, obviously there is a file in there somewhere with a "flag" that says replays are disabled. Not sure which one. If I ever get time maybe I'll try to find out...

Also, FWIW, you should be able to resume your 1.1 career from any of the auto-saves that were made when you were in port, if you still have them. It's only the manual saves you made at sea that are not compatible with 1.2. That's why the rule is, always end your patrol before patching!!!!

Again, thanks for the info on why I couldn't save replays, it's much appreciated

It does state that the auto saves "in base..." are compatible.

Yep, pointed that out to the OP in my 2nd response. Sounds like he was trying to reload from a save made at sea.

Ok, Thanks. Guess I should RTFRM.

But I have read SO much on these forums already because RTFM is a waste of time if you want to really know how to play this game, that I am tired of searching and reading.
