G'day,

SH4 is my first Ubisoft program so I do not have past SH2, SH3 experience to base how things have worked in privious editions.

SH4 is loaded and I applied the two official patches. I start SH4 and get to three slections, one being options; in options, game play, I select the features I want, save the changes and move on to sound and graphics.
I then go through the Career options, noting to select normal play so I do not have to manually target the enemy for torpedo strikes.
I then play, and if still alive at the end of play, I save my Career and exit SH4 to my desktop.

Now, if/when I start SH4 again, to continue play, but check game play option I find the boxes I selected and saved have all reverted to the default selections ............. Is this corret?

In career, you start in the office. Over to the left in the bookcase look for a book to slide out for options. Make all your selections. It will save it then.

And once you do that ... always start SH4 with load previous game. :D

Thx much for the replys, they are appreciated; however, I not confident I'm getting my point across.

I stated:

1. SH4 is loaded and I applied the two official patches.
2. I start SH4 for the first time and get to three slections, one being options
2a. In options, game play, I select the features I want, like realistic battery, realistic torp reload, etc. and apply the changes, then move to sound and graphics and apply the changes.
3. Back at the main menu I select Career, start date, boat etc., noting to select normal play so I do not have to manually target the enemy for torpedo strikes.
4. I then start the Career, receive my orders and exicute; if still alive when I elect to end play, I save my Career and exit SH4 to my desktop.

Now, when I start SH4 again, to continue playing the saved Career ( selecting load a previous game) but, first check Gameplay option, I find the boxes I selected and applied have all reverted to the default selections.

I have not found referance that tells me, while I'm in the "career office" to save a game before I start it to ensure my Gameplay selections, like realistic reloads, are held in place and remembered.

The Graphics setting and Sound setting never change from my initial selections, only the Gameplay selection. Is this normal and the only way Gameplay selections will be remembered is to save a game before I start it while in the Caree office?

Thx, Bob

When you start a career, your choice of "Easy, Hard, Very Hard, etc..." will change your default gameplay choices.

As previously pointed out, you need to go to the Options in the bookshelf to review and revise them to make sure you are getting what you want. Once you have them set there in the career (and save), then they will persist for the entire career.

Bob,

This gameplay options problem happened to me several times. It's so frustrating, start career, set up sub, use remaining renown to set up crew (this takes ages), save, start mission, find out gameplay settings aren't as you wanted, quit game, change gameplay settings, load game, scream loudly, quit game, start new career, etc etc.

I can't remeber what I did that finally cured the problem but I empathise with you

Good luck

G'day,

Again, thank you for the helpful replys.

I did find the device, a radio I believe, in the career office to set the gameplay opions for the carrer mode and did a test of this process. I purposely selected the "hard" option when selecting the year, boat, etc. In the career office I clicked the radio and sure enough all the gameplay options were selected for the "hard" defaults, I unclick the manual targeting, applied the settings and proceeded to the map to get orders. As the career started, I check the attack data tool and sure enough even though I has selected "hard" which provides manual target as a default, I was not in the manual targeting mode.

I really appreciate the help and clarification, thanks.

Bob

exact same problem i was having. they should eliminate the game options prior to starting a game...err wait, i bet that is what you use when doing just a patrol? and not a career? that would make sense!
