I tried the 158.16 that where leaked the other day and they are GOOD, much faster than my old 101's, now on the 165.01 beta's that have been leaked, these seem even better? :)
I can run SH4 with 1.2 patch on 1920x1200x32 on 16x AF and 4x FSAA, and its a smooth a silk, not done a fps count, but it felt/looked good....
thats on an 8800GTX btw :)

Unfortunately, it's quite a bit less than his.
i did not know that, so anything 79 is < 88??
also, whats the best card i can get right now with nvidia?
Right now, your card is just fine, it's a good card, not top of the line, but it's good.
The best card you can get from Nvidia right now is the card he's got - the 8800GTX.
But, Nvidia will be coming out with new variations of their cards and ATi will be coming out with cards to beat Nvidia! This all will lead to a price drop which is when you should think about upgrading, IMHO.:yep:

If you MUST buy now then get a 8800 GTS instead of the GTX. The price difference between the two is considerably greater than the performance difference.
Also, in a year's time when you start noticing the latest games are not rocking, you can add another 8800 GTS in SLI mode and voila, you'll be rocking again.
You can do all this with the GTX as well but at a silly price, in my humble.

I have found a modded nv4_disp for the XP 158.19 driver..
I will check it out tonight, hope my 7600GT will also improve like all the others..
I now also found Forceware 165.01 inf for XP.. check this one out too..
This is the new Beta version for Vista, but also seems to work oke on XP with the right inf.
Both drivers can be downloaded from Nvidia site.. so it's not bogus
Keep you posted

Sound advice...I had the evga gts than upgraded to the gtx, there is some performance gain but not enough to warrant the price.
In fact, I'd say unless your thinking Dx10 I'd recommend the 7950 KO.
Performance almost or as good as the gts but half the cost.

Confirmed bug in Vista :
some games will use 16xAA when you select 4xAA in your control panel ! HL2, amongst others, does this ... The cool thing is I didn't even notice the performance hit on my peachy 8800GTS.
I can however confirm the same thing for SH4 ... If I select 4x, it uses 16x. A bit overkill for my 1280x1024 LCD : )
So if you have some lower than usual framerates ...

I totally agree, if money is a problem, best get the 8800GTS, they are only a little slower with little less DDR3 on board :)
I will be getting another GTX for my SLI rig soon ;)
