I got the new patch installed and first thing I did was check the graphic settings.

I saw that the volumetric fog is a seperate setting now TYVM.

But I looked and looked and saw nowhere to set FSAA... Looked in root menu, looked in carrier options...

Call me noob if you want but... where is it ?

Go as high as you want until your frame rate goes excessively low :p

Its an ATI Radion X1800... no options available on right clicking the screen.

I cant find the catalyst programs either.... sigh.

Make sure you have latest Catalyst drivers installed.

To get to the Catalyst Control Centre, either right click on the Windows desktop (not in-game screen!) and the CCC should be the top item you can select, or go START -> All Programs -> Catalyst Control Centre. I would suggest using the latest 7.3 catalyst drivers because they seem very good.

If you get stuck, post here and I am sure we can help you get set up.

Cheers,

RD.

Be advised when I updated today to the 7.3 drivers I could no longer access the Catalyst Control Center. Gave me an error about Net Frame V. 2xxxxxxx. After a couple hours messing around and finally talking to an ATI tech, which was no easy feat, I was told it is a Microsoft application that ATI no longer includes in their downloads. I went to Microsoft, downloaded/installed Net Frame and made progress...I got a different error message. lol Eventually I had to uninstall all ATI software and reinstall. Then all was fine. I too like the 7.3 drivers.

I think it's .Net Framework. I had the same problem. I had .Net Framework 1.1 installed, so I figured I was OK. ATI drivers will install, but not the control center. Uninstalled, went and got .Net Framework 2.0, installed OK. Windows Update then told me there was a .Net Framework Service Pack. Hokay, fine. Installed it; broke the control center. Uninstalled. Reinstalled driver suite. Then it worked. Two hours total.

Fresh install,
Patched, and running with a NVidia 7950GT and two gigs of DDR2 on a Duel core. I'm getting beautiful graphics now that are fluctuating from the upper 60's down to late 20's but not too worrisome.
Antaliasing set at 4x,and anistropic (application controlled),Image setting at high Quality, and Vertical Sync set at ON.....Not too shabby at all.
Beautiful graphics.
Set up a Career and on my way out to the Solomans ran endless drills.especially different dive, procedures.I'm a lot happier with the results.
The dev team obviously have been working very hard.It shows.
I want you folks to know I've cooled off about the US medal issue....Neal.:)
What I havent said is, that Dan from the Dev team PM contacted me last week twice over at SimHQ and we yacked about the issue of bogus medals .It is a bit of a long story...you can go over there and read some of the posts by others. The Dev team were rather intimidated by a US Gov Office here in the States...So...

After apologies (Mine), Dan told me that he considered this issue extremely important and asked me to use my digital camera again and send him the info.I did.
He was on his way out for a much needed vacation and passed all the stuff over to another friend of his on the team.

I had a very negative reaction to SHIV when it was released and wasn't looking at the larger panorama.
I wasn't looking being patient.
It wasn't until guys like Beery plus several other mod makers made the sim much more playable that I started to get the message.
This patch to me seems to really help things along.Kudos to the Dev's.

I have a 7900GS and am getting very good results with it. Bought it for $140 a few weeks ago along with an extra Gig of RAM, a sound card, and a new PS to get ready for SHIIV. Have had the slider settings maxed out and all boxes checked on the graffics options and getting 20+ FPS on remote camera viewing the Battle of Midway which is pretty intensive stuff. Have AA at 4x and AF at 8x currently. Really no problems with stuttering or ships that don't run smoothly. Am upgraded to 1.2 as of this morning. I am planning on experimenting with light shafts, caustic effect, volumetric fog, the developer settings in main.cfg, etc. and seeing if I get any appreciable FPS increase by shutting some of them down, but really wouldn't have to do so.

Here's a chart from a video card website that does benchmarking (I certainly am not an expert on them) and it show the 7900GS as about 6x as fast on several benchmarks (not SHIV of course) as the ATI600Pro that I replaced. From my FPS rates, I think that's about right for the increases I got.

By the way, I'm enjoying this forum a lot. I'm an old SHI guy who worked with Jim Atkins some on the old SilentHunter.com website and SubGuy on his SH website content and am very thankful that the Pacific Theater is back. The developers and modders are doing a remarkable job - really impressive to me since I sat out SHII and SHIII.

I have a 7950GT and I am getting 60FPS locked and sometimes 30FPS locked with all settings on and sliders at max with 4x FSAA and 8X Anistropic. I run at 1024x768 (sorry its a habit with online play latency) 60Hz (LCD as well)

I am so glad the FSAA is up now :)

I have only environmental effects off (want solid crew) but even with it checked, it still was 60FPS and no monoliths

No Monoliths?

Look around, I'm out here somewhere.
