GWX Campaign or SH3 Campaign?

Which do you beleive is better? I have not played the original campaign yet I just started a campaign in GWX. Should I have experienced the original campaign before doing GWX's? The main reason I started in GWX is because it seems more realistic, and I can start out in a type VIIB boat. Although, I did find a spelling error in the first radio message you receive, said "NETRAL" instead of "NEUTRAL", but I edited it. :p

The only reason to play the stock campaign is so that you can appreciate all that has changed.

The stock campaign was dead and lifeless.

I think I will take GWX over stock anyday

Well, even in port, before you leave for your patrol, you will learn to appreciate the magic of GWX (eyecandy ++). no discredit intended to ubisoft, but its like switching from a bicycle to a ferrari (in immersion..)...:up::up:

I see I made a very good choice then! I dabbled a bit into the stock campaign in the past, it was pretty boring, but I can tell the GWX one will be better, even if im just past the Kiel Inbound Canal entrance. :p

GWX is amazing but don't confuse the Kiel canal for a shortcut (at least for us players in RL). I used it just once and ended up getting constantly bumped out of time compression by the sharp turns or merchant shipping. But it's worth using at least one time just to get a feel for the experience. It's very neat.

I was just shooting at a merchant near Scapa Flow when two planes showed up and took out my tower crew including my iron cross wearing I WO. It seemed as if they were called in by the merchant crew.

Would that ever have happened in vanilla sh3?

edit: the boat looks nice now due to the damage mod from the xrated pack.

I never even tried stock SH3. I'd heard so much about GWX here on the forum that I just decided, "What the hell..."

Well stock is great as a training curve might even get to 45 in 1 go,GWX different kettle off fish come 39 and you might not see 40 let alone 45 (can be done did it twice)but it just a bit harder and you just have to think a little bit,but it can be done.

Actually stock SHIII without any patches should be tried first to see how bad the release was. Then try each patch in succession up to 1.4b to see how they tried to fix it. And finally, try the different super mods with GWX being last to really appreciate all the hard work from the GWX Dev Team. Me thinks they hit the nail on the head and made the best of the best for an expansion pack. And then, try to survive to the sub war's end with a GWX Career.

Yes, stock SH3 campaign files total 538,595 lines. GWX 1.03 campaign files total 1,018,842 lines.

Just to give an indication of the enhancements added by GWX. ;)

I Would part agree with that. I wouldn't wish a stock SH3 without patches on anyone.

I would recommend at least a few patrols with stock SH3 patched to 1.4 before trying out the various mods. I think you will appreciate the work a whole lot more after seeing stock SH3 first.

really I cant even remember the empty harbour where you started in,

and the Merchant traffic, well I was even lucky to find some ships
but in GWX its has been increased a lot. and I love the athmosphere of the whole uboat warfare simulated in GWX :up:

its great to see a community that really made the game as it is today with their supermods:rock:
