View Full Version : Is this a hold up?

With all due respect . I ask the question because I have recently been reminded of the fact that I've been placed in the brig twice and that my next quote/unquote transgression will lead to a total ban. Is it about the money? Will Neal call his dogs off if I donate to Subsim.com?

Based on the link I will become a lifetime member if I pay up. Does that mean I cannot be banned? Do people who have paid get special immunity to the moderators? Is this the dirty little secret that Subsim is hiding?

Donate and become a lifetime member of the Subsim Community!

Just learn from your mistakes--whatever the heck they were--and don't repeat them.

Problem solved.

Well i haven't donated to subsim & i never had warnings so no its not because you haven't donated, Neals not that kinda admin otherwise i would of been long gone :arrgh!: Well i did once buy a cd with mods for SH2 of Subsim years ago. Oh yeah i did get a telling off from Gizzmoe awhile back over a bad link that actually went against copyrights. Maybe go back and look at your posts the warnings are over... :nope:

You never learn, do you?

I think it's safe to say that "Neal and his dogs" have a friendly climate in the community in mind before other considerations. It's sort of like paying a lifetime membership fees to a golf club, and then use it to drive golf balls at other members. It doesn't excuse bad behaviour. A lifetime membership in a club, so far as I am concerned, is conditional to the rules of the club.

Rather than pointing out ironies in subsim donation drive pages, I'd suggest you read the rules again and read up on what constitutes personal attack:

No, donations are to support the website, just like civil and friendly posts.

Thank you for your reply Neal. Yours is the only response that holds weight.

I'll be contacting you shortly via PM. Nothing bad. Just a question which I sent to one of your moderators and I was hoping to get a quicker reply from you.

Thanx

I surmise that the lifetime member bit is a touch of humour. Or possibly it suggests that by donating you are immortalized in the memory of subsimmers everywhere for your contribution to keep our glorious community rolling!

Pacific Aces, great mod. For those that can't run SHIV get SH2 and the PAcific aces mod - its close enough! :arrgh!: Oh and they have a better Dive sound "Dive Dive take her down 6-5 feet eye eye captain 6 - 5 feet".

Im waiting for some modder to add this dive sound to SHIV. :yep:

I always liked the crash dive sound "Clear the bridge! Chief! Secure the diesels and dive the ship!" :D

So why post a new thread about it? Why didnt you just PM Neal in the first place?

I temporarily switched off my PM a week ago, I was getting 30~50 PMs a day, mainly due to SH4 questions that need to be asked in the forums (so they can be answered by more than one person and read by everyone). I can tell you the solution here, it applies to you, me, and everyone. The Subsim forums are for friendly discussions. We do have debates and sometimes it gets heated but we all have to practice a little restraint and not beat each other up over a difference in opinion, or try to convert each other. What the moderators are watching out for are people who come here with the intention of setting the world straight. There are other forums for that.

Ooh yeah that just brought water to my eyes :D I remeber that, haven't played the PA for years but as soon as i read your post, i got all emotional :rotfl: Oh man we need this sound to be modded in SHIV. I wonder if i could do it with my creative sound software might give it a go will have to install SH2 and the PA but it will be worth it.

"Clear the bridge! Chief! Secure the diesels and dive the ship!" <--- Brilliant! :yep:

It isn't a new thread. A response to this thread. Lest it is lost on you. It is common curtesy.

BTW this is the this is why I'm in the doo-doo. People who don't know the difference btwn a thread and a response to one. Why do I need to lay back when others don't? I think P-Funk asked the same question recently. When you attack my judgement, opinions, or beliefs I think I have every right to respond in kind.

And you're missing my point. I'm saying why even bother posting on the main forum when you only value Neals' response?

I understand your wanting to be free of the BS for awhile. I sent an e-mail. Look for it if you will.

No, the reason you're having problems is - as the link I gave above to the definition of personal attack suggests - you attacked the people who attacked your opinion. There is a very definite difference between these, and like most good forums, there is a very good reason why Subsim disciplines severely for personal attack.

My judgement or an appeal for other input. Take your pick Kapitan_Phillips.
Either way the responses were forth coming; most of them negative towards myself.
That should give you some rest.
