Hey guys,

Have a bit of a predicament. I cant see crew caps and i think this is because randomised/ realistic crew SH3Cmdr implements. Anyway, id very much like to see the caps but dont know which particular file to modify (in sh3cmdr or SH3 crew.cfg). Also
im in the middle of a patrol, with a VIIB if it makes any difference.
Thanks in advance.

What the bloody hell are Caps, do u mean "covers". The things the crew wears on their heads? if u have a question about that, ask some of the modders around the forum, and post your question at the SH3 Mod section, Its best not to tinker with files unless u have the wisdom of modders behind u.:know:

Ahoy GreyOctober, I also wanted caps in the heads of all my crewmembers, and found how to do it.

1.- Go to "SilentHunterIII/Data/Cfg" folder

2.- There is a set of files called "crew_config_II_1" "crew_config_II_1" and so on. They define who is your starting crew and its abilities, uniform, etc. on each submarine type in early (1), medium (2) and late (3) war career starts. Open them with windows notepad, wordpad, word, or any text editor you have.

3.- The lines that make the difference are in each crewmember and read "HasHelmet=No", which you must change for "HasHelmet=Yes". The easiest way to do it is use the "find & replace" function (CTLR+R keys in Notepad). Set in the upper window to find "HasHelmet=No" and in the lower "HasHelmet=Yes" and click in "Replace all".

Do that in all files and when you start a career all the crew will have caps.

You can also do it in the middle of a career while in port or at base, just opening the files that refer to your crew in your folder "My Documents/SH3/Data/Cfg/Careers/Your career name(Whatever you chose)/"

Those files are "Crew_Career_00" and all "crew_config_2 Sept" or whatever data/savename given. In any case, open all files with the word "crew" in the title and see if they have the line "HasHelmet".

Hope that helps, but remember to BACKUP always first to modifying anything:up:

OMG I got to tell this story…

There I was, no Sh*t.

Back when I was a young troop, I was attending a joint service technical school. We had mostly Army and Air Force with a smattering of Navy.

We were being formed up one morning with this Army NCO in charge of our motley crew. He, being in command was givin the orders and we was followin them. A difference between the Navy and the other services became evident.

Break break-- to bring non-military readers up to speed. When forming up a gaggle of humans in some sort of military order, there are commands given to instruct the troops how and when to move. These commands will correctly position everyone in nice neat orderly rows and columns. However, to make it look really sharp, each individual may need to make slight adjustments. Well, when in formation nothing is done with out a command. One of the last commands given is “cover” which means for everyone to make slight adjustments in their body position, by quietly shuffling their feet, to line up with the person in front of you. The objective is to make each line straight.

Back to the story…

Somehow the NCO was able to get this scurvy mass of really young troops into something resembling a military formation. The command “cover” was given.

All the Army and Air Force people slightly adjusted their body positions to line up
All the Navy people adjusted their hats

We thought the NCO was going to blow an aneurism.

We all laughed so hard, I think we wet em!
