patches=problem

Hello U-BOAT captains, from Greece
Congratulations for your very good forum.
I am beginner in the game SH III and in this forum and have a problem.
I recently bought the SH III(DVD) and expasion pack "U-BOAT/ Mediterane" .I installed the main game and expasion without no problem .
When however I want to install the patch v1.4 (emea DVD) that it contains in U-boat cd or from internet it does not "run" but open the following message
THE PROGRAM CANNOT UPDATE THE INSTALLED VERSION OF SHIII EMEA DVD v1.0 to 1.3(1.4) BECAUSE C/...../...../SH3/data/air/ADB JU87STUKA/ADB JU87STUKA.cfg is unknown version

This happens also when I try to run also oldest patches(1.1/1.2/1.3)
What happens ?

The 1.4b patch needs to be applied to SH3 1.0 before the Med expansion pack.

Also, just make sure that the 1.4b patch was not added when you installed the Med Pack, you can do this looking in the bottom right hand corner of the SH3 Main Menu. It should say Version 1.4.

As Dan said make sure your SHIII game is patched up to 1.4b before you apply the Med Add-on. Be carefull though as there are four different 1.4 patches (European DVD, European Internet Download, American DVD and American Internet Download). You need to apply the correct patch depending where you got the game, and what format the game is (DVD or Download).

I would also suggest you give GWX a shot. It's a free mod and it's far better than any Add-On you bought with SH3. Have a look at the manual here http://files.filefront.com/GWX_MANUAL_ENpdf/;6783155;/fileinfo.html and if you like what you see click on my signature or on the link under it to get the game. There is also a Special Treat in GWX for all the Hellenic Navy Lovers in the form of a legendary ship made by another Greek member of the team (check the manual and you'll see what I mean;) )

IIRC the med add on has the 1.4b patch on the disc for you to install
As already posted make sure the 1.4b patch is applied first then the med add on ( or GWX lol )

Today, reading those who you said to me, I saw the version of my DVD
SHIII is: Version 1.4.0.1
For this reason it does not need install patch 1.4. Rightly?
My next steps was to uninstall the U-boat/Med and SHIII ,then reinstall SHIII.Download from jnternet all files of GWX , followed the installations orders the installation begin but in a moment opens the following message and stop :

"C:\..\shiii.\data\interior\NSS.UBOAT7\NSS.UBOAT7 CT.dat
An error occurred while trying to copue file
The source file is corrupted"

The latest budget-bin releases of SH3 contain the 1.4b patch, thus manual installation is not required.

Your latest error is indicative of a corrupt d/l file. I recommend you d/l my MD5Mate programme plus the GWX.md5 file (from the GWX webpage - link in my sig) and use them to determine which file(s) are corrupt. Once identified, simply re d/l and try again.

I d/l GWX.md5 file and MD5Mate programme and then installed but i do not understand how can use this programme.Any help?

1. launch the MD5Compare application

2.go to : http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/ to get the list of bins with the HASH digits behind them

3. copy the HASH digits and paste them in
''2. enter MD5 digits of source file or select file''

4. pick the Bin you want to be checked under 1. select file

repeat these steps by every file.

Simply d/l and save GWX.md5 to the same folder as all the GWX files. Then fire up MD5Mate and select the second tab. Press "1. Select MD5 file..." and select GWX.md5.

MD5Mate does the rest - ticks are good; crosses are bad. ;)

Finally only the GWX.exe did not have the same MD5 .I reinstalled ,tested and now its o.k.In few hours I will try to install GWX .I hope this time they go all good.

Keep playing mate, and as the war years go by the game gets better and better. Trust me it's by far the best game I played in the last 2 years.

Also make sure you use SH3Cmd with the GWX Cfg files and the extra skin add-on. They complete the game.
