Anyone having experience with it? What do you think - worth to invest money into it when one has loved Oblivion?

And how big is the world, compared to the Oblivion outside world? I admit that is the main attraction for me.

I have it and it is ok...its main quest is about 10 hours....But there is a save game bug I here about that causes your items and NPC's to dissapaere

I'd hold off on it. Its still somewhat buggy. There is some kinda FormID bug that causes you to lose items and corrupts your save game. (But, I think it only effects people with large inventories or games with 100 hours or more) Bethesda is telling everyone to back up there save games and prepare for a full reinstall when the full patch comes out. Plus alot of the really cool mods out there are still updating to be used with it. I use about 30-50 mods to oblivion and they add alot of great features to the game. I'd hate to jump into shivering isles without them.

Right now they released a temp fix until the full patch is released:

Good to hear about that patch issue, I hate to buy games these days that have serious issues. will keep an eye on future developement. Would be nice to have a new landscape to explore.

How big is the surface landscape, compared to that of Oblivion? Same size? Half size? A quarter only?

Not sure...It looks like it is 1/4.

Here is ingame map:

Ya im going through all my mods one by one, updating, getting rid of obselete ones etc.. this is day 2 of doing that  probably at least another 2-3 days to go (after me testing, discarding and tweeking etc)

Well, I would assume the maps are to scale given the icon size (which is a standard to go by) and SI being the same engine as oblivion. They wouldn't rescale distances in an already built game. Your arrow icon will travel the same distance at the same rate on either map.

Well, 1/4 is 1/4 that I still do not know. :D

Ehem, that was just a joke of mine, but I probably messed it up verbally. I meant that even the smaller land is still a land that I do not know. :D 25% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

Quick question: Does Oblivion Mod Manager's load order go from top to bottom? or bottom to top? I was installing mods with base files on the bottom and installing mods on top of those. But, now that I am reading more on forums it seems the base files go to the top of the list. The wikis talk about load orders but, they don't tell you specifically which direction they go (other than by default they are installed alphabetically)

EDIT: found the answer:

From the Mod Manager Help File:
The esp list: The left hand panel contains a list of all active esps. They are listed in oblivion load order, with the top mod in the list loading first and the bottom last. When mods conflict, the mod which loads last gets the final say. (i.e. mods towards to bottom of the list will override mods above them.)

There seems to be confusion about the install order of the latest patches since the 1.2 patch has been released and causes install error messages with shivering isles 1.2 patch. So, I thought I would post the install order here to clarify.

1) install oblivion off its DVD
2) install knights of the nine
3) install all of the knights of the nine add-ons - eg: the orrey etc
4) install Shivering Isles from its DVD (the game is updated to v1.2.0.201 at this point - no need to update it prior to this)
5) install the Shivering Isles V1.2.410 BETA patch

Just bought it, but haven't got a chance to install. A little worried due to the complaints....but Bethesda has always been good to me. Call me a geek, but I've loved all of their RPG's from Arena to Oblivion, and I even quite enjoy their new Star Trek games.

Asking for an update on status concerning problems and patches? Is it safe now to install it, or must I still expect problems?

Ordered my copy of SI via Ebay. Patch already downloaded and waiting. Let's see - I need some new locations for vacationing! :D

Do they have any plans to release more full addons (like SI, not mod packages like KotN)?

Not as far as I know. In a Finnisg gaming magazine there was an interview of the devs and they said Shivering Isles in the only add-on for Oblivion to be released. They're concentrating on other projects, ES V is not going to happen anytime soon but probably some day, anyway, when they get theri current projects off the way and wait for technology to advance. Fine with me, but at least they could release some complete, ultimate patch to fix those million bugs and oddities. 'Uninstall joystick and it's drivers' etc. What am I supposed to play my Il-2 with then?
