I was wondering... do any of you guys use either of those voice programs? If so I think it would be a lot of fun if maybe someone wanted to get together to play a co-operative mission or get a group of us to multiplayer with it. Anyone interested?

I use teamspeak. Some will say ventrillo but don't bother with it.

Teamspeak is the way to go.

see, now i've got the opposite opinion!

I started on TS, then started playing a new game and the clan i joined used venty. clear difference for my opinion, at least with the older version of TS i had (im sure they updated it since then). I was able to tell precisely who was talking by the sound of their voice, it made it so so much easier! the sound quality in general was just far superior in my opinion

My clan has been using Teamspeak forever. We did try to move over to Vent but the way it operates isnt quite how we like. Personaly I dont like the digital voice telling me who joined or the little bonk noise when you talk. Teampspeak is divided into 3 parts: The channel tree, information on your selected channel, and the text at the bottom. My clan prefers this because we put lots of information in the panel to the right of the channel tree.

To each his own I say - I just prefer teamspeak:up:

see those are all optional, but like you say you've been on it for a long time - we all know how hard it can be to break the habit:lol:

Teamspeak for me. Very easy to use and a very small bandwidth footprint.

Doesn't matter to me, Spent over a year on Vent server between my old Guild Wars guild and my EVE Corp, but had my own TS channel for awhile too... there both pretty equal... it would be cool to have a vent channel just to chat on for Subsim though, that'd be cool. :p

TeamSpeak

I've been using it for about 5 years now with online gaming, for Medal of Honor Spearhead, and more recently Americas Army Online. It doesn't hogg loads of bandwidth and it has plenty of settings and visual feedback.
Best way to go is to use 2 monitors so you have the TS window open on your secondary display and the game running full screen on the primary.

As for a subsim TS room... Iceman had a channel running a while back

don't know if he's still got it up and kicking :hmm:

Teamspeak is a good choice

it looks very basic , but because of that it doesnt bother your Computer in its performance

also in bandwitch , clear sound but you wont notice anything when using internet or playing a game online

Forgive me if I am wrong, but does Ventrilo not use less memory?
I've use both programs and I agree thaht TS looks and sounds better, but is that not due to
loss in computer preformance?

I have used both, but prefer TeamSpeak as it is more basic and flexible.

I should imagine any hit to system resources is negligable... but I guess it depends on what spec your machine is (AMD athlon AM2 3800+ 2gb ram for me). If you can run Medal of Honor (for example) on basic settings (it's getting a bit long in the tooth now) then the addition of TS will be next to un-noticable.

Teamspeak for me.

I've used both over the years. Ventrillo has higher quality audio but unless you pay money you are limited to iirc 8 people on at one time. Vent has lower quality audio but it's free and you can put at least 30 people on.

I use TeamSpeak as well. It's very easy to use and doesn't take too much memory.
