Hello fellow U-boat commanders! Just a quick question... I downloaded the positrive buoyancy mod for GWX and I have unzipped all the files. Do I just insert them into the equivalent folders in the data/submarine folders? (For example: just copy all the NSS_Uboat2D new files into the folder?) Also... is it better to do this while in port during a career, or doesn't it matter? Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions!! Good Hunting!

Nope.
When you downloaded GWX and installed it a handy utility was added to you SH3 Program folder. The JScones Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME). You will find a JSGME.exe inside the program folder. When you are docked in port before/after a patrol run the exe to create a MODS folder & to open the interface menu of JSGME.
All JSGME ready mods can be placed into the MODS folder and enabled via JSGME's menu. FYI there are allready some really cool extra mods bundled with GWX.;)
What JSGME does is to enable your added mods while making a backup of the original files which will be affected when you enable the mod of your choice. This means that when you disable your mods you should have a clean unmodded base version of SH3/GWX.
There are some basic rules to enabling mods via JSGME:
1)Be docked at port before/after a patrol.
2)ALWAYS rollback SH3Commander (if using) before enabling/disabling any mod.
3)NEVER delete the backup folder.
4)Enable/Disable your mods in the JSGME menu
5)Restart your game by either the SH3 shortcut or via SH3Cmdr.
JSGME will even tell you when one mod is going to affect another.
To use JSGME you need to make sure the folder structure is correct after the extraction process.
JSGME ready mods should have the same structure as below:
Positive Bouyancy Mod > data > etc etc
Sometimes after the extraction process you are left with an extra folder, like this:
Positive Bouyancy Mod > Positive Bouyancy Mod > data > etc etc
Keep you eye out for this.

The only thing that I am not crazy about in GWX 1.03 is the fact that we cannot give our crew medals. Unless I am mistaken... i think i saw this in the mods folder for GWX. Is it possible to just remove this one thing... but leave everything else and have GWX still function the same, except now be able to give my crew the iron cross or the german cross of gold??? Thanks!!

The 'No Medals' mod is designed to remove the medals from your crew when actually playing the game. I'm sure the U-Boat men did not goto sea wearing their medals.
This mod will not stop you awarding medals to your crew.
BTW, at the risk of stating the obvious, the mods in JSGME are not activated until you 'move' them to the righthand side of the menu in JSGME.

I just loaded up JSGME and all the AVAILABLE mods that apparently came with GWX showed up. Does this mean that since theyre on the left side under "available" that they're not installed and running in the game yet?? Do I have to now move them to the right (ACTIVATED) side to have them show up in the game?? I was under the impression that they were already in the game since I have done 5 patrols and still cannot award my crewmen anything except the U-boat combat badge... whereas in the stock SH3 version we could award them all the way up to the knight's cross. Thanks!! and thanks Danlisa... that information REALLY helped... now I know how to use JSGME!!

Is there somewhere we can see or read what each mod is and what it does before installing them? I'm looking to see if there's a read-me with them at the moment and can't find one...

Yes, in the GWX manual.
In the documentation folder inside your SH3 Program folder or click on my sig for an online version.
Read the manual, there be interesting & important stuff inside.:arrgh!:

Try looking in Mycomputer/PROGRAME FILES/UBI/SH3/DCOUMENTIONS.
Look for the GWX manual it will answer all your questions:up:

Thanks everyone!! I think I should point out what a GREAT forum this is! You are all very helpful, very considerate and never make a person feel stupid for not knowing something... even if it is the most basic thing to you. You should all be applauded for that! Thank you very much for the help... and for any in the future... LOL!!

To activate a mods via JSGME you need to select it (click on) on the left then click on the activate mods button to move it to the right. It is now activated and will be used next time you run GWX. Some mods are larger than others and will take time to 'move' over.
As for the medal situation, GWX has increased the renown requirements for medals & promotions, maybe this is why you have not been able to award any medals yet.
