MAJOR problem

I just finished my 3rd patrol. I sunk 41,000 GRT of merchants and a Revenge class BB. On my return to base, I was awarded many medals and so was my crew, etc. However, I decided to erase some of my old saves from that career before starting my 4th patrol. I did not know that erasing saves from my second patrol would delete everything I had done after my first patrol!!! I lost everything from being in port ready to start my second patrol all the way through being ready to start my 4th patrol now. PLEASE HELP! Is there anyone out there who can tell me any way to get these files back?? Are they gone forever?? I sure hope not!! I spent hours and hours doing that third patrol. I am thoroughly disgusted at myself right now :damn: :damn: :damn: . Those icons about sum it up for me... any help would be appreciated! Thank you!!

Did you go into My Documents \SH3\data\cfg\Careers and delete the files or through the game itself

Through the game itself... from the load career screen.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but I am running GWX 1.03. Thanks again for any help!! I am really quite upset... I'm sure many of you know the feeling.

I dont think patrols that are deleted in-game are stored anyplace, like the Recycle Bin. If they were deleted manually, they'd probably still be there.

Other than that, I dont think there's much you can do other than grin and bear it, really. Maybe someone else can help you more, or knows something I dont about the game. Maybe a modder? Anyway, sorry to hear about the patrol, I was infuriated like that many a time, usually getting CTDs when my PC was on the fritz. Ahwell, at least you can relive the glory! :arrgh!:

As far as I know....They are gone for good mate.

Did you not see the warning that states deleting the saves will remove everything after??

You might try one of the various file recovery utilities available for download...such as:

Hopefully, you haven't moved a lot of files around on the drive as this may have overwritten the data you want to recover.

FYI....I have no personal experience with the mentioned program, but I have used others in the past that work the same way with good success.

I don't want to sound like a pratt but I remember that every time I delete a save in game it reminds me that "if you delete this save every save after it will also be deleted", or something like that. Makes me very careful when I delete a save, even when I'm certain.

the game will remove every save when you delete/load an older one

so if you are on patrol 8

and you load the save of patrol 2 (mid patrol) because you want to sink the Fiji again for example. save 3 till 8 are removed.

When you want to safely remove old saves, do it by deleting them directly from My Documents/SH3/data/config/careers where careers are numbered starting 0 for the first one under your kaleun's name. 9 files and one crew config file per save with your save name.
