I picked up this Razer Copperhead mouse the other day to replace my aging Razer Karna Boomslang, and even though I like the new mouse, why is it that makers of new mice seem to always make them so damn light? This thing weighs nothing! My old Boomslang was made properly - with a 1.2 ounce (34 gram) weighted ball. There is no other way to get consistent head shots precisely with a low weight mouse - any pro gamer knows this. It removes the smoothness from your actions (Now you know my secret if you've ever played me - I've been accused of cheating over it due to my precision - outside of my precise twitchery (like that word?), the other part of my accuracy comes from my mouse, so if a good mouse is cheating, I am guilty as charged!). Razer obviously knows the mouse is too light since they released a Pro-Tools kit for installing weights, etc.

Now the kicker! - If you install the weights, this requires opening up your mouse for installation, which VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY! :x Nice! Can you beleive that? Logitech knows better - they made their G5 with customizable weights that can be installed from the outside - too bad they are not centered though - they are at the rear end of the mouse (wrong spot! Centered is more appropriate!). Also, the Logitech is lacking the fine X/Y axis control as found in the Razer, as well as its comfort - so there is really only one mouse to have right now, it's the Razer Copperhead. This weight thing though irks me! I'm going to be out $100 if this thing dies 2 months from now!

Anyway, should I be upset about this?

Anyway, I'll quit complaining about it, just that I think this is pathetic. Here is what the back of my Pro-Tools box says so you can see it in big yellow writing:

I know what you mean! My new mouse cost me many a frag in the online shoot n' kill arena.

What games you playing?

Not playing online right now - too addicted to STALKER. It ranks up there as one of the best games I've played in many moons! I probably give it a much higher rating because I never followed the hype. I remember following the hype for the original Quake and was sorely disappointed with what was actually released. Same thing happened with STALKER for many I assume.

PS. Get some weight for your mouse - it will fix any accuracy problem. Helps line up shots!

I even miss the original UT. The best were the Sniper Rifle only servers with the FAT mod installed - the more kills you got, the fatter you got! BBR.Ca was my favorite server!

PS. STALKER is the most addicting game I have played since Oblivion. I think I like it better than Oblivion.

That brings me back to thoughts on how the original Quake was supposed to be. The hype included that it was supposed to be like Arena (The Elder Scrolls) in which you could wander through the forests in one direction for hours, and all sounds were supposed to be ambient like you were supposed to walk past a cave and hear something inside....Or how about how you could hear someone below you, and shoot out the boards under you feet and kill that person below you. Hmm, guess that never happened either.

What we got was basically another Doom with a much worse story, but I guess we got decent 3D graphics out of it - but that is just it - that is all we got. Still I guess Quake was a good multiplayer game.

The hype pretty much destroyed it.

PS. SO where exactly is my Duke Nukem 3D 2? Hahahahaha! Still in production and still the biggest hype story of all time! How many years in production now?

Quake deserves much respect simply for what the graphics engine did for the FPS genre.

I have the Logitech G5 laser mouse, and it has an internal tray you can put weights in. Great stuff, I have adjusted the weight to kind of heavy, as I like that too.

I don't like the Logitech's weight placement personally (At the back of the mouse), but at least you can add weight without voiding your warranty! That would almost make me buy the G5 over the Copperhead alone!

Well, I crammed 30 grams into this thing. WHat a difference. I am dangerous once more!
