Be interested to hear opinions on this "story" for those familiar....

But...also..I'd like to ask: Why is some radio guy saying something dumb and offensive a 3 day headline news story? :o

That's my opinion, too. Much ado about nothing.

I think they should just leave the guy alone. He did nothing wrong. It's his radio show, he can say what he wants.

Imus makes a completely sexist, racist comment. Sharpton calls him on it. And your distatse in this situation is towards Sharpton?

Nappy-headed hoes. A joke for christ's sake! Tell me where the racist part in that is. Please.

I guess you only see it because they are black. Right? That makes you racist.

I can guarentee you this 100%: If the team was majority white, nobody would give a damn. Nobody.

And Sharpton, Jackson, and all of their cronies are all racists. Every single one.

My distaste is that Sharpton won't let it go. In this case as in other cases, he refuses to accept any apology and keeps pushing for some external action.

What ever happened to allowing someone to apologize for a mistake?

Why do people have to get fired for making a mistake?

That is my issue with Sharpton He does not care about the Rutgers people, he has a political agenda and he will use any excuse to further HIS agenda.

Imus is an entertainer. Nothing more and nothing less. Why would anyone take anything he says so seriously? Is anyone seriously considering him a role model??

People like Imus need to be ignored.

It's a slow news period. They have to publish SOMETHING! This will be blown out of proportion until something new comes along to occupy the minds of the sheep.. er.. i mean public.

Yeah, I was laying the sarcasm on pretty thick....

A friend and I were just walking through the lobby of our building. There is a large TV down there that is always tuned to MSNBC. As we walked in, I said "Whats it gonna be? Anna Nicole, or Imus?" Well, it was Imus.

It's not like theres a war going on. Amongst other things. :o

I know. Watching my local news right now:

"First story is that Anna Nicole's baby goes to Larry Bunghead. Then, Imus's apology to raci...reverend Al Sharpton. After that (can you belive this?), footage of Astronaught Lisa Totallywhack going to her house!"

Makes me sick. You know what? There WASN'T A SINGLE THING ABOUT THE HIJACKED TURKISH AIRLINER EARLIER THIS DAY (http://www.mg.co.za/articlePage.aspx?articleid=304328&area=/breaking_news/breaking_news__international_news/). (that's a link to the story)

Or Iran's vow to expand the nuke program....

Or Bush inviting Congress to the White house for, ...hehe...nothing.

Or The House Judiciary Committee presenting subpoenas for new documents from the frikkin Attorney General of this country,

Or the current firefight in Baghdad that has killed 4 Iraqi soldiers and wounded 16 Americans,

Or the Pentagon calling for extended tours of duty for 15k troops

....Yup, slow news day. Lets take about the radio guy and the bimbo's kid.

Tensions Rise in Turkey in advance of Presidential elections and most assuredly after Recep Tayyip Erdogan is elected President Turkey will be on the fast track to becoming an Islamic state.

Qaddafi Declares North Africa Shi’ite and Calls for Establishment of New Fatimid State.

Protests grow and support weakens for Pakistan’s president, the U.S. faces possible loss of crucial ally Pakistans.

I know it's going to happen regardless but I find it pathetic that all I hear in the media is Anna N and Imus.

Ever read the Books of Daniel and Ezekiel? I tell you the 4th kingdom in Nebuchad-nezzars dream is growing day by day. Peace and safety they shall say peace and safety. 'That day' spoken of the by prophets of old is drawing near.

thankfully, i know nothing about imus.

But, our top story is anna nicole - why would so many people have proudly admitted to having gone near her!!?!????

I heard about the turkish airliner on the french news we get for half an hour each morning, and i followed it up with a brief watching n not understanding of the russian.

Imus terminated by CBS.

Looks like the kids on the ranch get to pay the ultimate price. Revrund Al must be very proud of his selective outrage.

MSNBC, not CBS. CBS is considering it, though. *EDIT* Ok,I think he did get fired from CBS, I think. I'll see it in a few minutes once these damn commercials are over on the news. *EDIT2* Yep, he got fired. Shows how "free" we are in our public speeches.

I don't care about him either. What's got me mad was the fact that 1) They are labeling him as racist (It was slightly sexist, but seeing how it was only a joke, I hardly think he meant it), yet there was no racist remark made, that 2) Al Sharpton has got everyone wanting an apology for being "racist", yet he still owes the Duke LaCrosse players an apology for what he said about them, and that 3) Al Sharpton said publically on the Today Show yestarday that we need to institute "Government Regulated Media," which for anyone who's ever even heard of the Bill of Rights knows that this is a no-no.:nope:

As you can see, I don't really like Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, ect. Civil rights? Ask Al, he surely knows.

Now the question in my mind is; when will the double standard visa vis hiphop lyrics be addressed?

I've been watching some of the folks involved with the hip hop culture (DJs and BET reps) and it seems to me that if Imus was black he wouldn't have had any problem because its a 'culture thing'. I read something about Tony Blair saying London murders by blacks was a culture thing and was being criticized for it.

The people I'm seeing (DJs and BET reps) are now blaming it on 'big' corporations. Where is their responsibility. Blame the other guy. We are nothing more than victims. How stupid do the DJs and BET reps think we are.

I remember when Howard Stern was under a lot of pressure for his remarks...now look at him...multi-million dollard contract with Sirus. You can put money down that his remarks had both sexist and racist enuendo's included.

People reacted way to much to this. As I said earlier, there was a period where the news was slow so CNN jumped right on this.

Generally, how can the use of words or calling someone a name be blown into a international news story. Come on, "sticks and stones, break the bones, but names never hurt me"

If the women in this story felt that their reputation was damaged, or they received some kind of injury from the words, then file a law suit for defamation or liable. let the courts deal with it. Im sure the women involved knew nothing about it or didn't care until a news reporter stuck a microphone infront of one of their faces.

If it was a black man talking about a white womans sports team would this have been made into an international story?

I almost feel sorry for a society that lets this get the media attention it does.

My thoughts exactly. This is the biggest blown out of proportion double standard that I have ever seen. I would like to see the same thing happen to the Snoop Dog's of the world though, so when does this get to happen?

I'm tired of this whole thing. Sharpton is nothing but a racist idiot who won't let it go.

This is the 21st century...........when are they going to get over it.

Also waiting for Sharpton to apologize to those Duke lacrosse players who were wrongfully accused of rape by this black girl who made it up. These poor kids lives are ruined because of it. Boy, he was on his soap box then, but has found something better now.
