Realism Help Needed

New to the Sub Sim series and I'm looking to test my skills. I'm trying to plot an intercept on the navigation board but it's almost impossible due to the auto-updates of contacts on the map. I end up with red contact lines spaming the screen and can't find the ones I'm drawing. Is there a realism setting that turns this feature off? Or is the manual intercept method not worth trying when soo many contacts (convoy) are around?

Under the realism settings on the campaign loading screen you can turn off Map Updates aswell as other settings.:up: Of course, with this option off, you will not get any contacts displayed on your map but you did say you wanted realism.
