so I know there have been a long list of bugs and I know that
turning off enviromental effects will help a great deal

but today My clouds were racing like they were under 64 tc

I did a forum search for clouds on the sh4 bugs sticky and didnt find
it and the bugzilla link didnt work for me

Q: is this a know issue (assumably by now)
Q: is there a known fix for this issue.

I've seen this as well

Maybe the mini tweaker can help :hmm:

i noticed it too. it seems to happen with cirrus type clouds in the game.

also this "Fog" or whatever it is that rises up off the ocean and restricts visibility... it seems to be racing upwards in the same fashion.

I have seen the ocean do it before too on external views sometimes when i come out of time compression and go to external view the ocean will be speeding along but the boat will be slow. it only lasts a few seconds though.

I think Time compression is the clue

It happened after high visible tc while I was up on deck

and no I dont think mini tweak will do it its a bug with tc not a cloud parameter issue.

Now that you mention it I noticed it after TC as well.

Can second that - happens to me all the time. This game sure has some weird issues - I played the Midway scenario yesterday and my external camera was totally screwed up after some time. It would not lock to any ship, but would start high up in the sky and drop down and sink until it was pitch black. That happened after every switch to a new "target" - really strange. I sure wish they would have spend some more time with basic testing ... :-?

This seems to be a pretty popular and many times, repeated, statement, around here! ;)

I wonder why the dev team would think that the clouds need to be moving tht fast anyway weird.

sure, use my hot-fix ;)

the vertex shader to slow down the cloud morphing (four times slower)
to adjust to your own preference, play with the windDirectionTime divisor in this shader file.

must be saved as CloudsVS.fx in .../data/Shaders/Clouds in your SHIV folder

http://user1548.hostingbase.de/misc/CloudsVS.fx
right click -> save as... make backup of original file!!!

Thanks for your time and effort on this Seeadler ....
you da man!

.....your mod has really made the clouds a lot more real now....where as before, it was like a hurricane was blowing!

Wicked thanks seeadler that should do it. appreciate the assist
I would rather not complain about sh4 but im afraid that I occasionally
have to mention it outloud to find a solution and improve the game,
thanks all and specifically you seeadller as he who has provided the
solution

It would not lock to any ship, but would start high up in the sky and drop down and sink until it was pitch black. That happened after every switch to a new "target"

This happened in SHIII too. I can get it to reproduce in SHIV - you just hit the next contact key when there are no other contacts. The game can't handle this.

After making a few posts on SHIV I have to say its the buggiest thing I've EVER played in my life.

This was a known bug in SH3 when you would switch the "next contact" key to a land unit. Looks like it's made the jump to SH4 as well.

Windows 95, anyone?
