You can order patrol logs here, if getting to the US National Archives is not a possibility. THey are about $12 US apiece. Note that ordering is only available from Amazon and Powells, the Barnes and Nobles doesnt work.

Also Front Runner provided this link to me. The page is hard to read (poor choice of colours) and it seems only the TANG patrol report links work (the wahoos are all dead).

Hopefully if others are looking for this kind of thing, this will be helpful

Cheers.

Thanks! Yeah, the choice of colors is really stupid there lol. You can read it better when you "mark" it though.

I found this page:

http://www.ussbatfish.com/batfish-main.html

Check the Patrol reports on the left hand side. Excellent stuff.

I just found out that the wahoo patrol links arent broken.... just misspelled

To get around it, click on one of the patrol links, and in the last part where it says in the address:

Wahoo.htm, change the upper case 'W' to lower case 'w', the log will come up.

Cheers, and thanks for the link. I love this kind of stuff!

From one of the sites: "*Wahoo was recently re-issued, with a new Introduction, an article on Mark 14 Torpedo Problems....."

Good to see we aren't the only ones with torpedo troubles...

I have about 30 patrol reports obtained from the web (do a word search for "war patrol reports"). Copy and paste as a rich text document, then print out.

You can also get quick summaries on Wikipedia. Here's a list for the Gato class, for example:

You do not have to get them on ebay. You can find the Patrol Reports for both WAHOO and TANG at www.warfish.com

Thanks, I had lost the link to this one and hadn't yet performed a thourough search. Too busy sinking Japs in the Bungo Suido.

I had seen a book years ago at a Hobbytown USA that had all the sub patrol reports in it from WW2 PTO.

I thumbed through it a bit. Very interesting but I didn't have the extra scratch at the time.:damn:

I think it was about $40 IIRC.
