During my first patrol I ran into a RN group that had Light Cruisers, Destoryers, and one Battleship a Revenge class and the Hood. It took at least two hours realtime to sink it. Also I was relaying the battle of sub vs battlecruiser/battleship. Funnyist thing was I found it on ACIDENT!!!:o. I only found it due do the fact that I was submerged and the rate of lag. (Honestly I've also found convoys by lag HEHE:lol:.) By the end of it all I had fired all but three topedos. I keep at least three torps for " just in case". Sadly I didn't get any screenshots though because I had just updated GWX to 1.02 and didn't know that the print scr key couldn't take screenshots anymore.:damn: :x :nope: nuff said.

I have not seen the Hood so far at all, I'm in November '40 so I haven't much time left :P. Sank the Rodney last night though. It was in ther middle of a convoy with only three corvettes as convoy escorts, which seemed a little odd. Not sure that would have actualy have happened.
Ctrl + F11, to take screen shots. They will be stored in the main SHIII game folder.

I have sunk the Hood - but its kind of a cheap way of doing it. Using GWX 1.03 - start a career at the earliest date. Go thru the channel and visit ports on the north side as you transit - you usualy can get a couple of merchies if your willing to brave the shallows and port guards. Dont go too slow though - or you might miss your chance at the Hood. If you check Plymouth early enough - you will almost always see the Hood at anchor. Given how Plymouth is guarded early in the war (No DE or DD patrolling the harbor itself and apparently no antisub/antitorp net) - the Hood becomes an easy target. Only real concern is your exit - you will usually encounter a DD on its way to investigate as you leave. If you tme your attack for the dark hours - a surface attack and retreat can be effective. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

I have took her out a few times once in the open sea, once in port, and the last time when she was leaveing LE (pure luck) with 2 other capital ships and a few escorts she stood no chance.

Has anyone sunk the Hood but with actual torpedos??

As opposed to...? Getting in a time machine and doing it? Duking it out in a surface duel? Fake torpedoes?

I created a mission using the editor a while ago and it was me in my VIIB against the HOOD, acouple Didos and ten J Class DDs, i got into a great firing position and fired one Torpedo cause the DDs found me. I dived deep and then i remembered the torpedo i fired so i went to the External Camera and went to t he Hood and the toperod hit, right below the middle gun turret upfront and it must have hit a ammo dump down there cause the whole ship exploded and sunk. I couldnt beleive me eyes, i sunk the Hood in one shot.

Well I tryed to give it a "newsreel" look to it but it didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to. But the music was quite approptire though.

Great music and atmosphere. A bit lighter it would have worked great :D

I have not seen HMS Hood yet. However, I sank the HMS Nelson twice, on back to back patrols. Found her in convoys west of Ireland. Sent 3 torpedos, one to each end and one to the middle, she went down fairly quickly. I am in 1941 now, so I doubt I want to try to sneak into a British port for the Hood.

Sorry ramming doesn't count unless you sank it and have a screenie to prove it.:D And as for finding it I'd go to Scapa Flow in 41' or Plymouth in 39' thats when I sunk it.

or buy pulling the plastic plug near the aft of the ship and letting it fill up full of water? ;)
