patching problem

Just new to SH3, unreal game, unreal community. Got some other questions but first is this one. Trying to patch to 1.2 then 1.4 today after more searching for the latest patch and I get this problem with both when trying to install. Any idea's?

O.K. First point is that it's not necessary to install all four patches beginning with v1.1 and progressing through v1.4b. You merely have to install the latest patch, which is v1.4b which includes all the fixes from the previous patch versions.

Secondly, there are basically four versions of the v1.4b patch, depending on which version of the game you purchased.
1.) Downloaded AMERICAN version from the Internet - no DVD, no box, etc
2.) Downloaded EUROPEAN version from the Internet - no DVD, no box, etc.
3.) Store purchased AMERICAN DVD in a box, with manual, instructions, etc.
4.) Store purchased EUROPEAN DVD in a box, with manual, instructions, etc.

The patches aren't interchangable. If you have a store-bought DVD and are in Germany, for example, you'd need patch version #4 above. If you download the first one for the American download and try to install it to a European DVD version, you'll get similar warnings about incompatibility of certain text sections, etc.

If the patcher is complaining about help.txt files, just delete them from your installation. They will be replaced with the correct versions once the patcher has finished.:up:

Hello Cees, if you have buy SH3 in Europe you must uses the EMEA files .
I had the same problem The best is to instal them on a clear Sh3 thus no
mods or other things instaleted.

Thanks guys, I am Australian and bought SH3 from a local retailer, DVD copy. So I am guessing it's an American version, that's usually the case here. I've got the 1.4b American version downloaded patch. I'll try removing the text files.

I'm hoping installing the patch will fix a few problems I'm having....like navigators doing 360's off the plotted course, I pretty well have to boot them off station and steer manually myself. Assigning a damage control team to fix damaged compartments, sometimes the little spanner will appear fixing the issue but mostly nothing happens and nothing get's fixed.

Also after being depth charged but sneaking away with damage to live to tell the tale I surface to charge batteries and still have the water gushing in sound as well as the animations for water and steam bursting out of pipes in the control room even though I am surfaced. Sudden crash diving I am finding 3 or 4 sailors mysteriously croaking on me.

Really looking forward to trying some of the great mods once I get the patch in, everything looks superb!
