(Mods, since this isnt really a mod, I figured it would be best posted here. Relocate as appropriate)

I have started to create a semi authentic user manual for SH4 based off the realworld NAVPERS 16160, specifically chapter 20.

THis may not be for everybody as it is more or less tailored to the way I play, but it may be useful for some.

I have a VERY rough draft created so far, but have plans to improve and expand on it continually. Even more so, I would like to add and consolidate any guides and usefull things to make this, in the end, a complete and concise manual for SH4. I would like to include ANY helpful and informative diagrams and notes that some have posted here, like TDC guides, approach tips, navigational reference, speed charts... ANYTHING that would be great in a manual such as this.

To give an example of what tone and style I am going for, here is a copy of the rough draft (only includes 4 sections, but in essence, is basically my personal checklist when on patrol. Alot is borrowed from 16160)

I eventually want to expand it with as much information that a SH4 Skipper could possibly ever need. And I need your help to do it.

If you have anything you would like to contribute to this manual, post a link to the thread you have contributed content in, or detail it here.

Thanks all. This makes three projects I have on the go now, but my love for this game keeps me at it!

Cheers

Edit: PS to moderator, please correct subject to read: Fleet Submarine Patrol Operations Guide for SH4. Not quite sure how I miss typed that. Thanks as always.

Perfect for SH4 and for someone who may be new to sub sims. That's the kind of info that should have made it into the manual. Good job, I'll use it, and thanks...

Cute.

Since they're US boats I would favor "Harbor" Operations over "Harbour"; but it's your idea and it's brilliant, so I won't say anything more.

Haha! I tried to hide my Canadian Nationality, but sometimes it still pokes through.
Ill apply a Canadian to American spelling conversion factor in a future patch! :D

The odd thing is, I have to do this everyday. Most of my companies business is with the US, and I still catch myself saying "Zed" instead of "Zee" for the last letter of the alphabet.

Because I am going for an authentic look and feel, I'll be proofreading it better as it gets built, I'll switch my spell checker to US for the time being! :D

Very cool!
You may include my Torpedo Attack run checklist (needs more updating for manual AOB, etc but it's a good start)

Good idea but yea the link is 'busted' you have a space in .pdf as in .pd f but even when corrected its still 404.

Dont know if that was intentional or not.

Maybe you can get ahold of one of the dev's to discuss the mysterious 'dissapearing pages' of the original manual.
