This is probably a total Newbie question, but when I look in the Sounds/Speech folder in SH3, there are 1,101 separate files in each of 9 numbered folders. Since the number of folders and number of files in each is the same in GWX, I'm assuming that they're identical. Some of the speech files within the folders are duplicates.

Every file I've tested with Audacity plays OK, but there are some which I never hear when I'm playing either SH3, or GWX - e.g. many of the commands/responses from the radio operator, the Watch Officer and the Weapons Officer ( although I do see the text/subtitle equivalent.)

Am I meant to hear these? If so any idea as to why I'm not.:damn::damn::damn:

I think alot of those speech files were intended for features of the game that were not implemented in the released version. There are for example files that apparently are intended as responses to orders that you cannot even give. So no, you are not supposed to hear all of them.
I'm not sure if you asked this, but as far as I can tell the 9 folders contain the same speech files in different voices.
