So i launched SH3 with SH3 Commander and it said i was given a Command Position at the 5th Flotilla, a Trainning unit. So i've been given this order lots of times, but i always came back from reitirement, not this time though. This time i wanted to retire and begin a new career in the year that i retired. So i opened up my profile and saw this.
After his duty at the front, Erich Hansen became a department leader in the Marinekriegsschule Mürwik (naval war college), where he served to the end of the war. Erich Hansen spent over a year in Allied captivity and then worked as a journalist in Hamburg, Berlin and Düsseldorf until his death on 10 June 1974.

Im a little confused about the Allied Captivity part. Was i found quilty of war crimes and sent to jail? So now im going to start a new career as Erich Hansen's younger cousin, Albert Hess.

there were a lot of german service personnel held over in captivity well into 1946.

Especially if you just happened to reside on the eastern side of Germany in mid 1945.

Erich Hartmann - highest scoring fighter ace was held by the Russians and sentenced to 25 years imprisonment. Fortunatly he was released by diplomatic means after 10 and a half years in Russian captivity.

The crew of U-505 was not repatriated to Germany until well into 1946 i believe.

the problem with the retirment note on your commander is that it doesnt say whether or not he was tried for war crimes, interogated as a witness in war crimes trials, held over by the russians, he could have been taken prisoner as the allies advanced into germany. there are any number of possibilities - some of these men did not return home until the mid 1950's others were forced to adapt to a life in russia from which there was really no escape and never saw their homes again others died in solitary confinement just for being on the "wrong team".

I know this option is available in SH3 Commander but I've never used it. I usually just "retire" myself when I feel I've done enough patrols. Or GWX retires me by killing me. :damn:
