View Full Version : GWX and Water transparency
Am I wrong, or is it true that the GWX mod makes the environment so dark that you can't see anything when the camera is submerged? I sometimes take an external view of my sub when it is submerged, but I can't see a thing, even with the computer monitor brightness and contrasts all the way up. I know that in stock-SH3 the underwater camera showed that you could see everything in there as the water was transparent. Now with the GWX mod I can't even see my sub. Is this a bug? Thanks.

In SHCommander you can set how clear or dark it is, if you are not using this program, get it:yep:

Stock SH3 made the atlantic look like fresh pool water.
GWX makes it a bit more realistic... the deeper you go the darker it gets, you can zoom right into your sub and barely see it depending on time od day, but at periscope depth it is clearly visible.
I have also noticed that in some areas the water seems to look "muddy" and in others it is more sea like.

Additionally, the water opacity is monitor dependant at the end of the day. I've seen it nearly pitch black on a few monitors... but for the most part middle of the road.
Stock SH3 water just looked too tansparent/tropical IMHO.
Thanks for the replies. I was just wondering if it was intended. Yeah, the only reason i like the stock sh3 underwater scene is because I can see how the ships plummet to the bottom of the sea...;)
