This format effectively caps Blu-Ray at 15 GB, and in the future it will cap Blu-Ray at 25 GB, so since the only reason to own Blu-Ray is to have the higher capacity, there is no longer any reason to own Blu-Ray at all:

If you like to copy your DVD's for backup, HD DVD again is the choice format since it is wide open to a program like DVDfab. Blu-Ray BD+ may have an issue or two when trying to make a backup, but of course prior formats do not have this issue and can be backed up. I guess with HD DVD, you need not worry about it.
If you are looking for interactivity, HD DVD again is the format of choice since Blu-Ray's BD-J is not even finished nor implemented on any existing players. Universal seems to be pushing HD DVD's interactive content by adding things like Google maps to track characters in the movie:

Of course, if THD becomes the standard, and the content is supposed to be the same, then I guess this negates the HD DVD advantage in this area as well.
Anyway, to me it is pretty clear which format is the more desirable - HD DVD.
