View Full Version : Where is the ship then watch?

Hi guys,

Had a look around, couldn't see this anywhere.

In SH3, I would be chilling out in my bunk, and the duty watch officer would shout "SHIP SPOTTED", so off I rushed to the conning tower. To save me some time locating the ship (after all that is the WO job), I would ask the chap, where is the contact (click on him - ask for nearest visual contact). He would then give me the bearing of the target. This is fine, no problem.

SH4... I am stood around doing nothing in the command room (no where else to hang out ). The watch officer shouts, "SHIP SPOTTED", so off I dash to the conning tower.... here is where things go a bit... off? Firstly, sometimes due to the extended range and weather, I can't spot the ships. Not to worry though, the guy who spotted the ship, he can tell me can't he? Can't he?

Sometimes in the text at the top of the screen it mentions a bearing, but not always.

Now, I may be missing something obvious (in which case my overly long post is a waste of both our times), but I can't find a way to get the watch officer to tell me where the hell the ship he spotted is. Isn't this a bit of an oversight (undersight)? What I have to do is dive, get a sound check, and go hunting that way.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Cheers.

CTRL + V

However I think you need to get the Key Commands mod (see mod forum). That will "unlock" a number of other things that were in SH3 but missing in 4.

I get reports occasionally especially after a long game session and yet there is absolutely nothing out there. Not on map, not visible from tower, not anywhere...
