On sh4bugs, now that we're at 114 bugs, I think we need to do a bug list sanity check on the severity rankings. We probably should do this once every week or so. Let's see how this goes.

I have overridden the severity ranking on several bugs and I don't like making unilateral decisions like that. So let's take some time today to review the sorted bug list here. Please single out just one or two bugs that you feel are out of place and by how much and mention it here. It's difficult to sort within a given severity category so just make sure the severity is right. Post correction suggestions here. If you've already made a case for status change in a bug and I haven't seen it, just link to it.

I had hoped to rely on the voting mechanism to help rank things but it appears nobody is really using it. No big deal.

The severities are:
blo = Blocker (prevents another bug from being fixed, should be zero in this category)
cri = Critical
maj = Major
nor = Normal
min = Minor
tri = Trivial
enh = Enhancement

I think we need to focus on which bugs are preventing people from having an exciting gameplay experience in the midst of battle, because the bug is that either something isn't working, or that it alters gameplay extremely out of fear of the consequences later due to the bug.

I think Bug #31 "Sub Dives Out of Control Without Damage" is THE most severe bug, even worse than "A" CTD - at least you can play without ever pressing that key. You can't play if you're afraid to dive.

I don't think this is a bug. IMHO it is a function of the recently released mod that attempted to fix the crew dying when assigned to a damaged deck watch station.

I think the mod just hides the damage so the crew doesn't keep getting wounded but the damage is still there.

When I crash dive when being bombed I see no damage on the damage control screen but continue to sink and the crew is yelling out damage reports like crazy (bulkheads, flooding etc).

Remove the mod no more uncrontrolled dive when damaged. Or so it seems anyway.

It's happened to me at least 2 or 3 times and I've installed no mods.

I have not experienced this at all. Some say they have had this. I'm not wondering if the conning tower issue is a hit point deal.:hmm:

Unexplained damage, Crew die/death after manning damaged, TDC shots hit port, underestimates target speedquipment, Hydrophone Not Functioning, After damage and full repairs, boat still sinks at perisc... , Radar detects enemy ships; cannot be shut off ,Fixed equipment gets damaged again for no reason ,When refiting at port, no deck gun or AA gun ammo is repl..., Deck gun / AA gun damage cannot be repaired but the guns, Chronometer does not measure the targets speed.

I would say that all of these are major if not critical, I'm sorry but gameplay issues are more important than things like 1280x720 resolution not available

Any graphic bugs unless they cause a crash should take 2nd fiddle to any gameplay issues.

They aren't really bugs anyway - more like feature requests. Let's get a stable platform then build the feature set out.

The following were major, 1 changed:
#18 Unexplained damage
#42 Crew die/death after manning damaged equipment
#45 TDC shots hit port, underestimates target speed
#15 Chronometer does not measure the targets speed.
#100 After damage and full repairs, boat still sinks at perisc...
#78 Hydrophone Not Functioning
#3 1280x720 resolution not available (changed to Normal)

The following were normal, 4 changed:
#57 SD Radar detects enemy ships; cannot be shut off (I don't see the major harm in this, left as Normal)
#105 Fixed equipment gets damaged again for no reason (increased to Major)
#72 reloading at port doesn't reload AA or deck gun (increased to Major)
#14 Deck gun / AA gun damage cannot be repaired but the guns still function (increased to Major)

I'd like to note that I think we have too many bugs in the "Major" category... the critical ones are fairly obvious and vetted out. We should really focus on a few Major ones that we think should go Critical, look for any Major ones that can be bumped down to Normal, and vetting out the details of everything left in the Major/Critical category. The objective is to give them the highest ranked bugs first, and too many in the top two categories will mean some of the Major ones could be left out of the next patch (I'm sure many will be anyway, so that's why we have to keep it simple for them.)
