Hmm...I've only been able to play this weekend but not had a single CTD yet. I know opening the log can freeze up your system and that "maintain depth" key will do a CTD so I avoid both of those activities.

Yeah I have had quite a few "sh4 has encountered a problem and needs to close" :(

random things too, last one was just by clicking on the "launch boat" for my spy to go ashore...

what with the CTD's and crap res with no FSAA, this is really starting to get me down...

I do hope they get a patch for SH4 beta soon?

I've had a similar problem. I can't say for sure, but I would CTD while in high TC in the navigation map, and try to do something else. Say click on the button to go to the bridge. I have trained myself to hit the PAUSE key(backspace), set TC to 1X, then go to what station I want. It's a bear to get used to, but it seems to have solved my ctd problems.

Still, save early, save often, and save alot more than you should think necessary for a game like this.

You cannot stop the CTD, but as already said - saving often keeps the frustration levels at a minimum.

CTD: Try this, it has worked for every person I have told so far.

Reinstall SH4, then install the patch.

I have had a CTD only once. And, for the reason listed above. High TC and then click on the botton to check radio reports. However, it has only happened the one time.

FYI.....Dell XPS 600
OS...... XP pro
duo-core 3 gig
2 gig ram
nvidia 6800 pci-e
audigy sb sound card
160 gig ata hd
450 watt pwr

note: As a result of the intense graphic demands I am installing a second 6800. I hope this will stop the mouse latency issue.

I have had a CTD "permanent" on one save when submerged. I did try to load this save a number of times, even after restarting my PC, but every time I did see a glimpse of the Command Room before CTD happened.

I did finally load the previous save, which was on the surface, without any problem, so I could go on with my mission from there.
