I am looking into upgrading my computer system.

But in order to decide which CPU I need I first would like to know which Intel Dual Core CPU equals my P4 3.0 GHz 1mb L2 CPU ?

My current CPU:

Or is every Dual Core Intel faster then my current CPU ?

everyone is faster.p4 architecture is only 2:3 efficient, of every 3 hurtz only 2 outputs are used, the new dual cores are 1:1

so a p4 at 3ghz = (ish) a single core of a new C2D at 2ghz

then you have the added advantage of having 2 of those cores. you cant add core speeds up but idiots on ebay would sell a processor like a e6600 2.4ghz as '7.2 GHZ!!!'

plus all the C"D's have a larger L1 and L2 anyway

and they overclock like nothing else. even the base e4300 would be quicker

E6400 it's the same more or less
and costs less.
:up::up:
But motherboard it's important
i think at last P5B asus

Dont take 6300 and 6700 they are litlte little overclockable

the price hike for a e6600 (£195) to a e6700 (£330) is a stupid jump for an extra 270mhz. first thing i did with my e6600 was jack the FSB up to get 3.1Ghz (that would be 2 x 4.5 ghz p4's in theory) so i saved £140 and ended up with a faster processor anyway. ;)

and both have the 4mb L2 cache.

many people like the e4300 becuase of its mulitplier you can take it from its stock 1.8ghz upto 2.75 with relative ease. some have them running at 3.5ghz not bad for £110

1/3rd of the price of a e6700 and you can make it quicker.
