Protest in Iran targets British Embassy.

TEHRAN, Iran - About 200 students threw rocks and firecrackers at the British Embassy on Sunday, calling for the expulsion of the country's ambassador because of the standoff over Iran (http://search.news.yahoo.com/search/news/?p=Iran)'s capture of 15 British sailors and marines.

Police prevented any of the protesters from entering the embassy compound, although a few briefly scaled a fence outside the compound's walls before being pushed back, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.

And both the protesters and the police were probably paid by the same people. Standard show practices.

Just a lot of hot heads which may have been paid to whip it up.

Why have we got an embassy in Iran any way?

This was a warning, make no mistake. The Iranian government instigated the protest and it could easily be 1000's large next time. Maybe even resulting in a repeat of 1979.

Does Iran have an embassy in the UK? Or is that technology beyond them?

Just wondering...perhaps we could organise a meeting of the local BNP and NF outside it? :hmm:

Yep. I don't think it's really fair to blame the protestors for this. They are being told by their government that their sovereignty is being violated and the CVN war games in the Gulf are probably being spinned in such a way to support this. With the clamp on their media, the Iranian public knows no better.

These people got free lunch at McDonalds and a movie pass for climbing the fence.

the stones were also delivered for free - see the trucks moving through the crowds with stones on their trailers.

One of the extremely rare occasions when I agree with GWB. He named the sailors as "hostages."

Burning embassies is such a cliche!
They should be more inventive.
Perhaps they are being post-ironic. ;)
