Especially the young ones are vulnerable to this strange view. I would never say that the US is a harmless actor, due to the power of some of it's inner social constellations and lobbies. But to say they are even so much more dangerous than the ayatollahs...? That's even too much for me.

That's the revenge of the fun-fun-fun-society that kills the abilities of human longterm-memory and only leaves some brain activity for contemplating the last couple of minutes or so. what was happening in those few minutes? Ah yes, zapping to Big Brother show, zapping into a news snippet showing some pics from Iraq, zapping into a talk show where a Christian cleric says that Islam is friendly and the birthdays of Jesus and Muhammad shall be celebrated together, and then zapping back to Big Brother container entertainment deluxe, or the charts show (for handy jingles). quality of our media as well as culture in general has degenerated so far that it should not be surprising that opinions get formed on even the most mediocre informational basis.

But the wrong paths being paved by communal authorities and institutions certainly also help. The following essay is loosely linked to the theme of the first essay as well.

Interesting Article. Havening been to Germany and pretty much all of Europe, I have learned to love the German Culture and their theories.

When i was there, the USA had just invaded Iraq and i was getting some looks in Berlin, espeically by the Teens and younger kids. I dont know, I mean The USA looks like a big bully to many countries but then again so has Germany. One thing i dont like about Germany isthat they try to not teach their youth about WW2 history, no Nazi info for them. If i was a German Citizen i would want my kids to know their national history, the good and the bad parts, if you dont learn about history your bound to repeat it.
anyways the Article does have some good points but it also has some bad points. I like it, the person that wrote it is not afriad to preach watthey think, perhaps they r leading a new revolution in Germany

Interesting Article (...)

Much interesting: "(...) After all, Nazism was just an accident, whereas Americans are inherently evil. (...)"

So true... just go back to Tripoli almost 200 years ago, where it all started.

Good Point, Yes the American experience in dealling with oversea Issues started with their attempt to Over Throw a Soverign Nation, The first time it did that, Ahh does anyone have baby Pictures of the Marines storming the fort, ahh they grow up so fast, You would think we would learn something from our first Arab Experience.

the History channel was talking about this just the other day

Rest assured, at least during my school years (mid70s to mid 80s) lessons were almost crowded with the Nazi past, but the focus was set on other things than you may expect, not so much on the history of war operations, and american perspectives, but the holocaust itself and the German guilt. As a matter of fact we were stuffed with the holocaust theme so much that many of us were sick and tired of it, and I still am.

I doubt the wisdom of that. Making people allergic to the theme itself (with the intention to immunize them) maybe is not the best way to keep a person's mind awake of Nazi dangers in the present.

What is desperately missed in school lessons is information about the GDR tyranny, and the StaSi injustice. It became evident recently that most students do not have adequate information on how the German unification took place, and the how inhumane and brutal the StaSi terror was. even important names from that time of changes are unknown to many. School books almost avoid the theme completely. It is by far not adequately covered. I wonder if this is wanted by politics.

What I learned about the Allied views conerning WWII, I learned by private reading after school. thank God I have a general interest in history.
