Am I the only one who's not able to hit ANYTHING beyond 1500m? I try and try but ranges out at 2000-3000m are impossible I've found. Heck I hardly hit at under 1000!! ;) I literally have to creep in to about 700-900m in order to have a good chance at actually hitting the damn thing. The torps are always late :damn:

For me the longest hit I've had was about 1200m on a cargo ship broadside.

If the torps are late, dont use Mk23 and if its Mk14 switch speed to slow.

Bug in game with fast mode on torpedos.

Use the slow torp speed setting....Luke. ;) The fast one is bugged.

Edit: Ain't this a great forum? 3 views and 2 replies within a few minutes. :)

I always used the slow torp. Even in SH3. I used fast only on the warships. Just my preference. The fast setting in the game is bugged and apparently the TDC is a bit screwed also. Anyway, the best distance I have done is about 2000. I use the slow torps on this one as well. I find the most important input for solution is speed of the target.

Longest hit I had so far in SH4 was about 2500 yds.

I haven't managed to get anything other then Mark10 torpedos in my career yet.

3000 yards, after several dozen trials...but that does not count when testing.:dead:

Indeed use slow.

If you use mark 14 -23 fast, it move at about the buggy 36 knots fairly consistantly. you must aim about 3 degree ahead of a normal shot to make up for the bug. I guess it is a bit faster than stock 31 for the slow M14.

I think it look the devs are trying to model in the real life dud effects per each year when it M14-23 is used and chances change. .sim file. Just look into the file.

The Mark 10 even though it is a somwhat smaller warhead by about 1/6 (in real life -have not check if it is so in the .zon file)...reliable to hit dead on at 36 knots with no problems. Auto or manual.

I got one at ~3500 Yards, dead center. Despite the fact that it was the ship behind the one i was aiming at...

I need the chrono to work! Speed is killing me somtimes.

What do you open the torpedo.sim file with?

I hit a DD doing 18 knots with a 3 torpedo spread from 900 yards. One fish hit him in the bow and he sank slowly while taking in water. I need to get really close to hit anything:oops:
