View Full Version : Manual TDC: Bugged enough to speed up the next patch?

I read the starred TDC thread and saw that the experts there verified a genuine, significant bug in relative bearing output. Inadequately and possibly inaccurately summarized, the gist of it is that an inner TDC dial which is supposed to move, doesn't, either when a target ship is locked or when it is placed in one particular side of the compass.

My dilemma is this: I do not want to ruin the experience of this sim by grinding my teeth in frustration. I'm only really interested in manual targeting, as hi-fidelity systems simulation is why I buy these demanding "games". The problem is that I do not yet have the experience or expertise to recognize a bug like this and work around it. I need the TDC to be consistently reliable (even without the advertised method of target speed determination) because the learning curve is steep enough as it is. With a bugged TDC, the balance between frustration and achievement is too precarious for a relative novice like me. I'm not good enough to know if my torps are missing because I'm no good yet or because I stumbled unknowingly into a TDC bug. We all accept the "garbage in, garbage out" caution when dealing with computerization but "good stuff in, garbage out" leaves guys like me floundering and auto-TDC is not an option.

So should I put the game aside in the expectation of an imminent patch? Or should I cut my losses? I'm asking you guys because you know much more than I do about this product, its devs and what their support track record is when it comes to issues like this. In FALCON ALLIED FORCE, a significant systems simulation error affecting input/output data gets addressed in a patch within weeks. What might I expect here?
