16th of March 1941, Celtic Sea.
After a pretty successful attack on a large convoy (1 escort + 1 merchant) i dived to the bottom with two DD's on my trail. I got a heavy DC hammering before my boat rested at the bottom (89m).
Stopped the flooding, turned off the engines and rigged back to silent. Both escorts were dropping charges around me for almost 2hrs without much luck though.
I managed to raise the boat 2m above the bottom and silently moved north leaving both DD's behind. To my astonishment, they were still pounding the same old place while i was slipping away.
Nerve wrecking 2hrs to say the least, but it was worth it. Surfacing to the blue emptiness of the sea and sky has never felt better.
Now i don't know if this can be used as tactic or was that just a struck of pure luck, either way i survived another patrol!
