View Full Version : I have been enjoying the Recognition Maual ...
... that came with the Collectors Edition. Great bed-reading!
I notice almost all US submarines look pretty much the same, and have pretty much the same specs. Could some Pacific know-it-all`s say something about what seperates the different classes?

Subs began to differ, even among members of the same class, throughout the war as conning towers were cut down to reduce visibility. The Gato class was your basic, modern WW2 boat at the beginning of the war. The Salmon class came right before the Gatos, but for the most part, had the same specs. Tench class was basically an improved Gato, with stronger hull.
Great stuff! I realise I dont know anything about these submarines.
