no not from my fellow forum members but the game dissed me.

i had such an old video card it was like playing sh3 in a dos version lol.
i got a new video card and found that playing sh3 was a whole new experience.

anyway the rude part came when i played sh3 again for the very first time.

on my first mission i found a big old battleship and gave her a full spread of 4 fish.
1 pre-detonated, 1 stopped tracking and went into a random search pattern, 1 hit causing her to list but stay under full steam, and 1 hit but was a dud. ok that was a fluke so after reloading i got in position and just to rub it in i gave another full spread. all 4 hit but 3 were duds and 1 glanced off not exploding. amazed by all this i forgot myself and let a tin can drop charges right on top of me.

all hands were lost!

this game is just plain rude to do that to me the first time i get to play this game as it was meant to be seen lol.

Depending on what year you are playing, that sounds pretty realistic. I don't get nearly enough duds.

If you think that was annoying you should go talk to some people that had to endure the Silent Service in the the first years of the war.

I think I read somewhere that one boat had a total of one good hit for 70 cumulatively fired? Now THAT is rough.

I'm just re-reading 'The Golden Horseshoe' after maybe 20 years, a great little book about Otto Kretschmer and U99. What you describe sounds spot on for early war. Must have been frustrating beyond belief. Lucky for us Brits however!
