My system is pretty old now being P4 2.8 ghz with 1gb Ram but I am really enjoying just cruising around in my beloved guzzunders and getting the hang of the interface for the time being. The look and feel of the ocean is awesome !

I am using Forceware 91.47 XP32 driver on my XFX 7600GT and at 1024x768 Vsync On in main.cfg with High Detail Environmental Effects ( cloud shadow ) OFF I am getting about 44fps on the open sea and drops a little when other ships are about but it also goes up to the 50's fps sometimes.

So anyone out there with a 7600GT can you tell us what driver you are using and perhaps recommend if there is a more optimised version for my rig that might give me even better performance ?

I looked about but it is daunting because there are so many Drivers and it takes a long time to check them all out.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
Happy Sailing !

Seems we have the exact same system (except I have eVGA OC'd version of the 7600GT). I'm using the same driver you are and really wouldn't expect much more of a performance boost because of drivers. If you do decide to upgrade to the newer drivers (93.71 I believe), let me know how it goes.

i bought a 7600 GS with 512mb RAM just for this game. tbh I only uded the driver that came with it 6.14.0010.9131 and it works great:D

mind you anything is an improvement on my rad 9600:o

Have everything on high more or less, but I do have 1.5g ram

Thanks for the replies

I dont go along with the "latest as always" theory because in the past with my 6600GT I have found Nvidia drivers can often go "backwards" with degraded performance or even worse bugs galore.

Anyhow I might give 93.71 a try because I just found them on my xfx driver disk dated Feb 07

cheers maties :arrgh!:

Ahoy There PeriscopeDepth !
Just noted you have same system you say ? Do you run Vsync On and what Graphics settings have you enabled ? FPS in open sea and in battle ? Just curious to see how close Our cards are ..... I have mine OC'd at 581 Core and 1500 Mem and seems very stable tho' it does run a bit hotter than my old 6600GT ... baseline temp of 52 Celsius upto about 68 ingame.

I don't use Vsync, I was under the impression that it's pointless if you have an LCD. My settings are everything max with light rays, enivornmentals, glare, and filters off(don't like the filter effect). In open sea I get around 50-60 FPS. I used to run with glare and light rays on (about 40FPS in open seas), but figured when they add Anti aliasing support I'll probably end up turning those off anyways to keep my FPS. Everything max in fog I get about 21 FPS in open sea. Can't say about battle, haven't been playing that much. The one engagement I've had is sinking a single unescorted merchant. I got an annoying stutter for a few seconds when my torp connected. I'll probably be throwing another gig of RAM in in the next month or two, so hopefully that fixes that. My clock settings are the same as yours (factory OC settings from eVGA, haven't messed with it). My card runs a few degress warmer than yours, but that may be because I'm in Southern California.
