If there are French you have to let them be until June-July 1944. If they are Free French then they're fair game throughout the war.

On the topic of French ships what is it about them that they seem to sail in mini-convoys a lot? Dont know if anybody else has noticed similar but whenever I come across them there seems to be another 2 or 3 tagging a couple of hundred metres behind and they're unescorted. I'm not complaining as it pushes up my tally nicely. Same thing last night in Bay of Biscay. Lookout spots a ship which turns out to be a large merchant with a small merchant and tramp in behind. Twas like a turkey shoot:D

If you surface at night and put a shot across the bow,the searchlights go on, Star flares go off and the crew all come up top with bottles of good wine smiling and yelling and waving, however it can be very a very dangerous situation for your crew ........getting back aboard Das Boot.

my take on coming across lone ships or small convoys of say 3 or 4 ships and i dont recognize the flag as friendly neutral or enemy - i just surface

if they start zig zagging they prolly have something to hide! so blow em out of the water. haha

Just yell out "Remember the Rainbow Warrior and Nuclear testing in the Pacific" and you will be justified in sending them to the bottom.

Sorry, no personal officence intended. Would you like some toads legs instead of frogs? We have some large ones here that we don't want

Feel free to let rip with some Australian jokes (ask a New Zealander, they may know some good ones!)
