While playing SH4....

I came across a large task force and had a lot of fun sinking 2 warships, and 3 merchant ships. It was awesome playing zig zag while they searched for me.

The only bummer part is that I am not even half way to my destination point and I have no torpedoes left in my inventory. :arrgh!:

Does anyone know if SH4 has any Milk Cows or such to refuel and rearm?

I can pass by Pearl Harbor on the way to my destination but can I rearm without having to end my mission?

If this is not possible then I really hope that this is either added thru a patch or thru a mod... Nothing worse than seeing a vital target and cannot do anything.

Thanks!

Are you near Midway? You can rearm there. You will get both "refit" and end patrol options at your home base and just "Refit" at any other friendly base.

The US navy didn't have resupply submarines. You need to find a friendly base.

The USN used forward bases and Submarine Tenders (ships). That's what real, blue water navies do to resupply ships at sea ;) since they don't have to sneak out tiny oilers in overgrown subs.

The Germans resorted to "Milch Cows" because the Allis owned the seas (and the skies above the seas...) A resupply sub is an inefficient way to replenish subs.

It was the lack of any strategic bases and the difficulty of even getting their surface ships out of harbour safely that caused the Germans to attempt to resupply by submarine...,
