Full radar operation manual online!

Nice to see how the real thing worked.

Someone needs to get this to the dev team, so they can give us a SD scope!
All the info for modeling you need is right here.

I really, really hope somewhere down the line they add radar warmup times as a realism option (~10SD/~30SJ)..but, for now, I guess I'd settle for working radar!

Absolutely fabulous reference. Keep in mind the doc is dated 1945 and radar sets and capabilities evolved considerably from early in the war where use of radar was scarce. My dad was a Navy radar tech in WWII.

I also see according to this document it's not unusual to see land as well as aircraft with the SD radar:

"Report all targets and IFF signals, giving their ranges. Identify the composition of targets, using the following characteristics as a guide to your interpretation of target pips. (1) Land (sharp, fairly steady pip). (2) Single plane (narrow pip, fuzzy at the top, fading and bouncing rapidly).
(3) More than one plane (wide pip, fuzzy at the top, melting off occasionally on either side from the top, and fading at a slower and more even rate than the single plane pip)."
