Its complicated. Too complicated. The HUD is really bizarre and tricky to get used to compared to the SH3 interface, also the crew management screen is just WHAT!?

I think I will be sticking to SH3-GWX and I will occasionally dabble with SH4 training till I get 100% used to it. Because at the moment, I can barely start the engine, much less figure out how to manage the crew or anything else.SH3 was so much easier to use by comparison.

the basic setup is the exact same. Just a few little differences. Nothing that makes the game much more difficult to get into compared to SH3.

Give it some time. Much has changed. Personnaly ive been modding the game so the controls are as close to SH3 as i can get them. The crew management screen is acutally a wondeful thing.

Normally subs are divided into three watch's, that go onduty for what i beleive is 8 hours. What the crew management does is divide the crew into 3 watchs, and then autorotates them from their duty stations to their bunks.

Its really cool because if your active in the 3d view at certain points in time you'll hear the ship whistle, and then someone on an intercom announce, "releive the watch", and the active crew changes, with new faces at the stations. If you have the damage control team, you can acutally see them working on stuff in the control room. Its like the ship has a living crew that has their own routines. Unfortunatly we don't have the direct interaction like we did in sh3 when they looked at you when clicked on.

I agree! I'm an SH1 veteren, never played SH2 or 3, so I'm really behind the learning curve. Never seen such a complex interface.

Well...it looks pretty. They obviously worked a long time on that.

Eh. I'm like most guys here. I haven't given up on the game, but I'll give our modders (and the devs) time to fix some of the more outrageous problems.

I do believe in time this will be a rocking game. But right now...meh.

Play the game for 12 hours like me and you will find the interface fairly easy. Some of it even makes sense:o. I like it and it is not as easy as SH3 but you get accustom to very quickly.

Now my wife hates this game as well;)

I love what they did with the crew. I loathed micromanaging them. Now all I have to do is move some to damage control if something happens. Yay!

I really like the TDC setup while in periscope view. Though sliding the dials needs to be done in short strokes, I can input manual data pretty damn fast.

Maybe they'll make a Destroyer Command 2 so she can depth charge the crap outta you!
