U47 VIIB
Patrol report, prior to assigned grid arrival.
Left Kiel 27.01.40
Intercepted enemy task force WNW AM36 31.01.40.
Task force comprised of 1 Fleet Carrier, 1 Cruiser, & 6 DD-Escorts high speed (http://mysh3.info/danurve/3_25/5_375.jpg). image
Attacked fleet Carrier, 0.5 spread shots 1-4, running 6.5m fast speed (http://mysh3.info/danurve/3_25/u47_3_25.wmv). video - 2.4meg
U47 taken to 90m normal dive, silent running set after 30m.
Evaded probing DD-Escorts, remained at 80 silent running for some time.
Strong merchant sound detected, intercepted large neutral troop ship on SW heading.
Returned to course, intercepted enemy Task force on return course (http://mysh3.info/danurve/3_25/0_937.jpg). image
Attacked Light Cruiser, 0.5 spread shots 1-4, running 4.5m fast speed (http://mysh3.info/danurve/3_25/0_281.jpg). image
U47 taken to 90m normal dive, silent running set after 30m.
Again able to evade probing DD-Escorts and returned to course.
U47 now with 3 eels aft, 2 eels forward.
Continuing to patrol grid AM52 (http://mysh3.info/danurve/3_25/33_218.jpg). image
Upon completion of patrol grid and encounter with targets of opportunity;
Set course for re-supply from Thalia at Cadiz harbour.
Extend patrol for Western Approaches.
Upon merchant convoy encounters;
Return to Thalia instead of Kiel for enemy convoy traffic patrols.

Made it though the patrol grid and took advantage of the deck gun and a few lone merchants, plus a pair in AM52. Fighters make no waist of time straffing & Bombers in pairs buzzing about. Docked at Thalia as planned. There is a British troop ship docked at Cadiz, it will probably be there when I depart. Not sure if I should sink it so close to the Thalia in a neutral port though.
All in all an excellent patrol, thanx due to a most excellent Mod. :up:
