Why is it that whenever I can get a mark of an enemy position on my navigation chart (Convoy, enemy fleet, etc) I can never seem to find a perfect point to intercept? Is there a specific way to intercept a fleet or what?

It seems like I never encounter anything during my patrols, only enemy planes and on occasion merchant ships that are so far out of draw distance that I can't see them.

Some advice would be appreciated.

Check the Newbie help sticky in the SH3 forum. The community manual has a good section for how to plot intercepts.

Check the convoys speed & range. From that you can pretty easily get ahead of it and to a good attack position. After awhile, you can mark the intercept point quickly as you get used to knowing how fast you need to move to get to that point.

With as many ships reported in this game compared to SHIII It's as easy as waiting for a close contact, drawing a line through the target mark with your ruler at it's course, then setting course to well ahead of the target at a 90 degree intercept course.

Then wait. :arrgh!:
