View Full Version : Torpedoes on attack map?
In SHIII; torpedoes in the water showed up on the attack map but this seems to be missing in SHIV - I know its not 100% realistic but it suited my style of play quite nice - Its pretty hard (for me) to keep track of an entire spread on the way to their targets. Does anyone know if its possible to have this feature in SHIV??
Its known, a few squares from midway towards japan for some reason removes it, to get around it best thing you can do is be in the Asiatic Fleet.:-? It also removes gyro trajectory thing making it near mpossible for me to hit anything... =/

Man, this game seems more and more buggy all the time.

How can you tell that it removes gyro trajectory as well? I´m actually finding it hard to hit anything myself (on assisted settings) - Found a nice Task Force on a straight line and managed to miss all of them - they didnt even zigzag??

Well When I look at the attack map while in pearl harbor I had the gyro and torpedoes on attack map, then as I passed this imaginarry line off of midway it stopped working for some reason, don't get this in the asiatic so I just run there...

It isn't that intuative and I don't think there's a shortcut key (?).
You have to click the icon - lower left, click the compass icon and then underneath, next to the normal map, is the icon for the attack map.

ehh how do you pull up the attack map?
Click the two-pointed divider hot key in the lower left of the screen
It will open up a menu of other hot keys.
One of the new hot keys is the Nav map (which you will go directly to if you double click the two-pointed divider icon)
The one next to it is the attack map. I don't remember if there is a shortcut directly to the attack map
Hope this helped
Or just install the mod that changes your SH4 key config to that of SH3. Then you press F6 to get the attack map.
The mod is listed in the modification listing: Keyboard..something...

I noticed that torpedos show up on the torpedo practice mission with the cruiser but not in the game. Weird.
The attack map bug is due to crossing the international date line I think it has been determined. I know that I only lose it if I take a sub from Pearl and everything is fine until after the line crossing. If it is due to a saving and reloading issue I dont know.
If I play a boat based in the Asiatic fleet it does not happen.

You really have me wondering now, because ive only left out of austrailia ONCE, ive always been out of pearl:
The dateline:

1.) TDC map view tracks disappearing. As cited in this thread.
2.) Local time and the regular game clock are always in sync and they shouldnt be.
3.) I have never had a dud/premature torpedo or circular runner when leaving out of Pearl. My one patrol out of freemantle had me pulling my hair out, and a nice large hole in my engine room from my own torpedo.
