View Full Version : Career Ended So Soon!
I was on my 4th patrol. I had received a couple of medals and a promotion for the first 3 patrols when on the 4th, I did not complete the taking of photos at Singapore. Man , the IJN was all over the place and I had but 2 torps left and not many rounds for the flak gun. My base at Java was overun, Manilla had already fallen so I went to Midway, thinking I could dock and end the mission. WRONG. So, I thought I should have went to Brisbane where I would be restationed. WRONG> I go back to Pearl and am dismissed, after receiving a Victory Medal. It said I had a happy life as an engineer or something like that, was married and had children and etc. Now that was short, just when I was getting started. All because I didn't complete the photo mission. Damn

That's ok. I'm not impressed that after my sub is destroyed, and everyone is killed, the Navy has the gaul to arrest me and put me in the brig. Why? Because I sank a friendly vessel. My own.
:stare: Same here, ten minutes ago. Sank to 1600 feet and ended up in the brig.

They fish you and your crew out of the Pacific from ridiculous depths, only to drag you off to court.
"Being crushed by the depth thousands of feet under the surface of the ocean? You're not getting off THAT easy!" :rotfl:

So which is the lesser of two evils? Sinking or surviving and getting court martialed? :P
I don't know... that is all too "nice" for my tastes. I'm not a master of history, but I'm willing to bet that even if you managed to abandon ship somehow, your chances of surviving in the middle of the ocean are probably not the highest.
But nope. You survive no matter what and get court martialed.
Oh wait. If you sink to 582881881 meters but had a really good career, they might just give you a new ship instead (I've had that happen).
Heck, either way, I think if I were the commander and someone managed to escape a sinking sub, somehow float to safety and not get captured by the enemy, I'd just award them a new sub because...well.. dang, tenacity is worth something. :P
Wy is it impossible to actually die in the game? Makes no sense considering how easy that was for me in SH3. ;)
As unsatisfying as it all is doesn't it sound like they're trying to take cues from SH3 Commander? Ending your career early, giving you an after war biography, creating some kind of story to the events.
It ain't perfect but it says that the devs are listening.

That's a bug :O The game wrongly considers death as a return to base, and then decides that your old sub is going to the scrapyard or another course of action.

I can't wait until they fix the "dead, now go to court" bug. It always makes me laugh though. My crew was killed, but they are still looking at me in shame...

There is no way of avoiding military justice. I don't believe your orders were to go out and sink her boys.
Like on Full Metal Jacket. You need permission to die or you will be in a world of #$%^. I edited the last word but you get the idea.
