What would you consider to be a must-have mod or add-on for SH3? I'm already using GWX 1.02 (and several of the included mods it provides), but aside from that are there any others that you recommend and/or couldn't live without?

Just TGW 1.1a or GWX. That takes care of the MUST haves.

Don't listen to TheCat; the only true must-have is SH3 Commander. It does so many important things that I couldn't live without it.

You should also look into some of Venatore's GWX compatible mods. They add a few things that you might be interested in. They're all divided up so you can pick and choose.

And these are fubar's skin files. All GWX compatible.

Theres more out there but those are some nice options.

Thanks for the replies.

I already have SH3Commander, as well as SH3Gen and a handful of U-Boat skins. I also have the ship skins, but I don't remember if they came with GWX or not. I held on to the Torpedo Loading Transparency file as well as the Bearing Overlay for the map (still don't remember where I got that...).

I was just curious to see if there was anything else the SH3 and GWX communities would recommend. Most people tweak the game to look and play the way they'd like, so I thought I'd ask around and see if there was anything else that looked interesting. There's a ton of stuff (especially for GWX) out there, so it always helps to have a recommendation from someone who may have found something that really makes the game for them.

for those of us that perhaps are not bill gates,is there a step by step guide to installing these must haves?I only ask cause I had to wait for my brother to see me to install GWX(He got the brains (in IT)I got the dubious looks)and when it comes to PC's I'm a total thickie, sorry:cry:

At the moment I'm torn a bit by a few differnet mods that aren't compatible with each other simply because they all affect the same files. I'm exploring the possibilities. The simple fact is that no mod ever satisfies everyone. And likley if you shop around you'll find some things that don't mix that you'd like. So you'll either have to ask for help in getting them or do it yourself... tough work if you're into Periscope/UZO TDCs and sliding dials.

Well most of the mods that have been made in the last year and some come JSGMW ready. I hope you have JSGME. It lets you install mods and back up the files you're changing all in one click. It also informs you when you're mixing mods that alter the same files. It is a screw up saver.
