View Full Version : Does SHIV support 64bit Vista
Just purchased the game 20min ago, ran through setup and installed the patch update. Tried loading the game via administrator and got a "please insert original instead of backup...securerom yada yada"
So is this due to 64bit Vista and securerom, since I had troubles getting SHIII to finally work with Vista 64bit??
Vista 64 is nice and very fast but now i'm considering downgrading to 32bit :(

No it wont work for Vista until they add it in a patch later, atleast that`s what the dev`s says.
Sry to hear about ur problems, but u can comfort urself with the fact alone, indeed, that when ur game is finally patched and ready for Vista, you`ll start playing a more bug-free game then we did :D

It may be accurate for Vista-64, but it certainly isn't for Vista-32. I've been playing since Thursday without issue on Vista-32 Ultimate.

The game works just fine in Vista 64bit. I've been playing it for the past few days with no issues whatsoever.

Hello
Which version of Vista 64 do you have?
I have Vista Ultimate 64bit on a pc with good specs but still I only get black screen after the game`s intro...
I am starting the .exe file in "Windows XP comp."

SH4 runs fine on Vista x64 (I have Ultimate too), without the need for XP compatibility mode or admin mode. I've been running it since release (april 2007) without a problem. However, SH4 is still a 32-bit process and will not have the advantage that native 64-bit processes have.
As far as the black screen, many people seem to have experienced this problem (including me!) and in most cases it is related to an incompatible or outdated codec pack.
So, if you have a codec pack (like K-Lite) installed, you can try to uninstall it and see if the game works. If it does, then you'll have to find another or newer codec pack for your movies/music.
